Prep: Use Muzét in This Battle
At the end of Chapter 8, you’ll have either Muzét or Gaius in your party. Muzét’s Support Warp ability is very useful here, so you should only challenge this boss once Muzét is on your team. Also, the boss uses Wind-type attacks, so items like the Wind Cape will help keep you safe. The boss can inflict the Paralysis ailment, so bring plenty of Syrup Bottles.
Tactics: Focus on the Knockdown
Muzét makes this knockdown easy to pull off. You can avoid the boss’s Trample Drop if you back-step while linked with Muzét. When it plants into the ground, you can easily close the distance to it with a front-step, putting yourself in position for the knockdown. To ensure that your NPC comrades don’t mess up your strategy by getting caught in the Trample Drop, set them all to the Protect Yourself Action setting in the Strategy options. After the boss is knocked down, switch them to Spirit Artes Only or Mainly Artes.
Knockdown: Attack After a Failed Trample Drop
After the boss uses a Trample Drop and misses, it will plant into the ground and be unable to move for 4–5 seconds. Attack it (use a Linked Arte in EX mode) for the special knockdown, then perform an all-out attack.
Attacks to Watch Out For
Song of Despair: This attack can inflict Confusion on its target. Defend yourself with a Syrup Bottle.
Trample Drop: The boss drops down from on high. Block while it’s still in mid-air or get out of the way.
EX: Target Its Head with Cloud Pierce

Since you need to hit the boss with a Linked Arte to get the special knockdown in EX mode, it isn’t as easy as it was the first time. Instead, use Milla’s Cloud Pierce arte to target the boss’s weak point, its head. While the boss is staggered by this arte, have your companions attack its elemental weaknesses. Don’t forget to have Elize use Dispel to protect the party from ailments.
