Wipe Out Foes With This Brief but Overwhelming Power
If you have at least one full bar in the Chromatus Gauge (located on the lower-right part of the screen), Ludger can transform by pressing 
+ 
. Once transformed, Ludger will battle alone on a battlefield that contains only himself and your enemies, but with dramatically increased power. This effect lasts until the Chromatus Gauge is again reduced to zero. While transformed, Ludger can attack without worrying about HP, TP, or AC. Additionally, all of his normal attacks and artes deal type-less damage, so you needn’t concern yourself with enemy resistances either. However, your Chromatus Gauge doesn’t decline only with the passage of time; taking enemy attacks also reduces its duration.

Start Your Combos With the Quick 
Attack
When transformed, you perform normal attacks with 
and Chromatus-exclusive artes with 
. As long as you’re on the ground, the direction of the left stick makes no difference; you’ll always perform the same starting 
attack, which is an excellent combo starter. While in mid-air, the attack you perform varies based on the direction of the left stick. These attacks can be performed in rapid succession but are low in power, and should be quickly chained into artes.
While transformed, you fight with a Chromatus-exclusive spear, and cannot Weapon Swap.
Attack Multiple Foes With Wide-Ranging Artes
Performing artes works differently when transformed. The arte you perform changes based on the amount of 
attacks you’ve performed before pressing 
. In general, artes performed after pressing u have a wide area of effect that can target many foes. Powerful artes like Hexentia and Edge Crusher are easy to use and require relatively few presses of 
, so they should be the cornerstone of your offense. Note that the Chromatus mystic artes—Soul Destroyer and Eternal Waltz—become available when your Chromatus level rises as the story progresses. The table here shows how to execute each of the Chromatus artes.
