Game Progression

Chapters

Each of the sixteen Chapters follows in chronological order with a set of objectives you must complete. During the Chapters you can roam to other areas and perform Side Quests, but to make progress in the Main Story you must complete the tasks given to you. There are many unique situations that only occur during the Main Story, and it provides numerous opportunities to increase affinity with other characters. Each of the Chapters is broken down by area. For each area there are items, enemy lists, and maps for key locations and treasures. The Walkthrough guides you through only the essential parts of the Main Story. New areas that are not part of this Main Story are explored in the Intervals.

Dimension Shifting

Prime Dimension

The Prime Dimension is what your characters consider their home. Essentially it is the original version of the world you are playing in. However there are many alternate dimensions that are very similar to your own.

Fractured Dimensions

These are alternate versions of the Prime Dimension, and while the geography is the same, the characters’ lives and history can be vastly different. Throughout the game you will enter many of these dimensions to unravel the mystery of your own world. Note that shops may stock different items in these dimensions and all treasures are different between dimensions. The Fractured Dimensions have a muted look in terms of color palette and they are always denoted in the Walkthrough as (Fractured).

Differences Between the Real World and Fractured Dimensions
  • Same areas have the same maps.
  • Chests have different contents and may appear in different locations.
  • You can never return to Fractured Dimensions, so get the items and treasures while you can.
  • Splinter worlds visited in Character Episodes have their monster levels set when you enter them, so they may differ dramatically in difficulty from the real-world versions.
  • You can only visit Fractured Dimensions during pre-set game events.
  • There are no Job Bulletin boards or cats in Fractured Dimensions.
  • You cannot leave Fractured Dimensions to visit other areas until you complete the objective for the Fractured Dimension.
