No Love for Rieze Maxia

Gaius is hanging out in Trigleph, but he is incognito and wants to avoid any attention. A group of young guys seem to be in trouble and bump into your party, dragging you into their mess.

Run to the inn at Trigleph Port to lose the men chasing you and speak to Tanner.

Tanner asks for you to meet him in the park, so don’t keep him waiting and go to Trigleph Residential Quarter. Unfortunately, the little meeting turns out to be an ambush!

A bunch of locals attack, but they are no match for your battle veteran party. Set the party’s Strategy to distribute their attacks and Spread Out. Many of the Rieze Maxia haters are weak to gunfire, so Ludger can stay back and fire at will.

Talk to Tanner

A Lesson in Friendship

Gaius is back at the inn where you took shelter last episode. Kyle called everyone to meet to try to find Tanner, who went missing after the last ambush.

There is no time to look for Tanner now. A Fractured Dimension awaits in the Mon Highlands. There are tons of treasures to search for in this snowy region, and it is a pretty safe bet that most enemies are weak to Fire-type damage.

Search the Central Region and you will automatically run into a group of Gaius’ friends that don’t seem too friendly.

Put Muzét’s Support Warp to Good Use

You have to fight four bosses at once here, so if you approach them carelessly you’ll be quickly surrounded and pummeled into oblivion. Jiao is especially dangerous and he has lots of short-range knockdown attacks. If he begins pursuing you, run away from him, leading him away from your comrades. Focus on each foe and exploit their weaknesses to drop them as quickly as possible to reduce their numbers.

So that you’ll be able to get out of the way quickly, link with Muzét so you can use her Support Warp to pop in and out of battle. Once you’ve culled the enemy’s numbers, switch to controlling Gaius and aim to counter enemy attacks with Retribution and Calamity Stance.

Attacks to Watch Out For

Jiao’s Devil’s Maw: A wide-area attack centered on Jiao’s position. To protect your allies from it, lead him away with free run if he begins targeting you.

Wingul’s Gale Fang: An attack that slashes an ally numerous times in an instant. Since it hits so often, it can likely break through your guard, so quick-step away to dodge it safely.

Keep trudging through the Mon Highlands to the Northwest Region to find the catalyst.

Use the Power Charge 3 Skill

Since all of the enemy’s attacks affect the area in front of itself, it’s best to circle behind him to begin attacking. To do so, link with Muzét for improved evasive abilities.

This boss moves so slowly that you’ll have plenty of time to get away from him and charge up Power Charge 3 while you guard. After staggering the foe, use combos to dish out large amounts of damage. Also, after giving it a weakness with Power Charge, transform to continue your combo for massive damage!

Have Gaius attack the boss’s weakness with slashing normal attacks and his numerous Light-type artes. Alternatively, use Ludger’s dual blades with artes like Moonlight Assault.

Attacks to Watch Out For

Lunge: This is a dangerous attack that always scores a knockdown when it connects. Its range is short, so you can effectively back-step away as soon as you see the boss rearing back to use it.

Cross Slayer: A long-range attack in which the boss swings its weapons forward. The flip side for its long range is the long window of opportunity it offers before connecting, so even after the arte’s name appears on screen, you have time guard or back-step away.

When you’re back in the prime dimension of Mon Highlands, Gaius wants to check in on Tanner. Go back to Trigleph to track him down.

Talk to Tanner and Gaius will bestow some wisdom on the reckless kid.

Gaius the Chaperone

When you met up with Gaius, Kyle and his friends are planning a trip to Rieze Maxia and it looks like your party is the chaperone.

Use the World Map to go to Sapstrath Deepwood and run through the forest to the Southwest Region for some sightseeing.

A group of monsters are about to ambush the kids, but your party draws first blood! Attack the Sylvan Treant from behind with Fire-type damage and use Earth-based artes to deal with the Sylvan Wolves.

Now the kids want to go to Marksburg, so use the World Map and make one more stop. Kyle is late returning and is acting suspicious.

The group automatically goes to the Elym Hotel and the news of a murder in Rieze Maxia is spreading like wildfire.

A Tough Decision

Speak to Gaius outside the inn at Trigleph to discuss Kyle.

Step inside the inn where Gaius is in a political nightmare. He is in a difficult situation as king of Rieze Maxia. He must decide how to help his new friends while avoiding an international incident.

Go to Marksburg and enter the Elym Hotel. Speak to the person at the front desk to join the politicians in the conference room. Some tough decisions need to be made, but Erston will always have the memories of his times with his friends.
