Explore Marksburg to collect all the items. When you’re ready to start the chapter, go to the southern part of Elym Harbor to meet Leia.

Apparently the cat you encounter is named Julius and it’s not exactly the lead you were hoping for. Still, Leia is an old friend of Jude, as well as a reporter, and she can help you track down some info on the train incident from one of her contacts in Duval. Before you make a quick departure, locate the roaming cats in the Bridge of Unity (Lithia) and Elym Harbor (Thomas).
As you try leave for Duval, Ivar will make a surprise appearance and challenge you to a one-on-one fight. This tutorial battle shows you how to use the sledgehammer. The important lesson from this fight is that the range and power of the sledgehammer is great for breaking a foe’s Iron Stance.

It’s not ironic that Ivar is weak to strike attacks, which means you need to switch to your sledgehammer weapon and let him have it. Ivar has several arte attacks like Grave and Terra Spin, but they aren’t too tough to contend with. Use free run to get in close and knock him off his feet with a Power Swing. Continue to juggle Ivar in the air with a repeated hammer assault to earn bonus damage.
