Among all the playable characters, Rowen boasts the highest scores in both the Intelligence and Dexterity stats. That allows him to deal serious damage with both artes and critical attacks. However, his HP and Agility are on the weak side, so you’ll want to select accessories to compensate.

Partner Skill: Auto Magic Guard

Activates Magic Guard in Response to Enemy Artes

When an enemy casts an offensive spirit arte while Rowen is your partner, Rowen will automatically activate Magic Guard on both himself and his partner (provided Rowen is not otherwise incapacitated) . While this effect is active, Rowen’s partner is able to act freely, and can continue attacking as Magic Guard reduces the damage dealt by the enemy arte. Note that using Auto Magic Guard is always Rowen’s top priority, so if he’s in the process of casting an arte himself, he’ll cancel it in favor of the defensive measure. If you’d prefer he keep attacking, you may want to temporarily sever your link.

Auto Magic Guard Properties

Triggers whenever an offensive spirit arte is cast by any enemy.
Reduces damage by the same amount as the Magic Guard skill. The effects of Auto Magic Guard do not stack with the character’s own Magic Guard.
While active, Rowen’s partner may continue to move freely.
If Rowen is incapacitated, Auto Magic Guard will not trigger. If Rowen is staggered by an enemy attack after using Auto Magic Guard, the effect will end.
When the Support Shift skill is active, damage received when Auto Magic Guard is applied reduces TP instead of HP.

Auto Magic Guard will continue until all effects of the enemy arte have ended.
