Ailments

Triggering Elemental-Type Ailments

When you use an attack with a damage type against a foe, that foe gains ailment points. When it hits 100 ailment points, it will get an ailment corresponding to each damage type of the attack. This same system works on enemy attacks against your characters, although the effects of the ailments you give may differ from the effects of the ailments you receive.

How Ailment Points Work

Ailment Points Properties
  • As mentioned before, you get ailment points when attacked, and the same system affects foes.
  • The amount varies based on attack. When you get 100 ailment points you get the ailment corresponding to the type of damage.
  • When the ailment is cleared, your ailment points are reduced to 0.
  • These are NOT cleared at the end of battle, but are reduced to 0 if you stay at an inn.
  • Accessories that protect you from an ailment 50% of the time actually protect you from accruing ailment points 50% of the time.

Dexterity Makes It Easier to Stun

The odds of inflicting stun are affected by the attack used and the Dexterity of the user. If Ludger uses a strong attack (hold + or + ), that attack has a 15% stun rate. Multiply that times 1 + user’s Dexterity divided by 1000 to get the odds of a successful stun.

Actions That Can Lessen Ailment Duration

You can recover more quickly from ailments by taking specific actions. You can reduce the duration of ailments by up to half if you know how to deal with them.
