Endings

SPOILER WARNING!

The following section contains plot spoilers.

Five Different Endings

For a game based on player choice, you can expect there are different types of endings. Some are very similar, but others have a very different turn of events. Note that these endings are merely alternatives at the end of the game. One is accessible before you finish the game and two others become possible after completing the Main Story.

Julius Ending

In Chapter 15, Julius has left a note on the table that explains a lot of the story, and reading it will officially begin the chapter. When you confront him in Marksburg there is a very tough choice to make.

Defeat Your Friends

If you refuse to do “the right thing”, Ludger must defeat all of his friends. When the battle starts you must face Jude, Milla, Rowen, and Leia. After each comrade has fallen, a new one will take his or her place in the following order: Alvin, Elize, Muzét, and Gaius.

Each of your (former) companions uses powerful artes, so if Ludger gets surrounded he could be wiped out in seconds. If his HP runs low, switch his accessory to a Reverse Doll (or Hallowed Doll) to revive him. Remember that even if you suffer an ailment that immobilizes Ludger or he ends up getting juggled and can’t use items, you can still open the menu to equip a Reverse Doll.

If you attack recklessly, another companion will rush in to dish out a painful counterattack, so you want to focus on using free run and quick-steps to evade all incoming attacks and only attack when you are not surrounded or when you are transformed. Many of your former teammates have artes with wide areas of effect, so make sure to dash clear to avoid getting caught.

Transform as soon as you fill a single bar of your chromatus gauge. Your foes will swarm you, so mainly use the wide-area Hexentia and Apocalyptica attacks. Using your transformation state is the only way to win this four-on-one battle.

Survival Tips

  • Save up two chromatus bars before the battle begins so you can transform immediately.
  • Activate the HP Surge and HP Surge 2 skills so all your health will be refilled when you’re revived from a KO.
  • Activate the Dash skill so you can flee with free run more effectively.

Save the World or Elle

At the end of the game, a choice must be made for how to use Origin’s wish. There are two different paths to take and each can earn affinity. Also, one path leads to numerous Bonus Scenes (if you’ve completed the required Character Episodes). Below is a flowchart to help you make your decision. In short, choose all L1 options to get the Ludger ending or choose all R1 options for the Elle ending.

Debt Repayment Ending

Even though Ludger ends up as the Vice President of Spirius Corp., he still has that burdensome debt to repay. There are numerous prizes for repaying your debt, and if you can get it down to the last 100 gald you will earn this ending. This isn’t a game-clearing ending and it will be a tough task to pay back 20,000,000 gald. However, the rewards cinematics are probably worth it. Make sure to keep watching after the credits.

Coliseum Hero Ending

To see the Hero Ending, you first have to satisfy two conditions. The first is clearing the post-ending hidden dungeon, Illusionary Darkness—that means defeating the shadows of Cress and Stahn after defeating the eighteen previous bosses. The second condition is completing Event Quests 30 and 31. If you’ve met both conditions, fight your way to the final battle of the Expert Rank in Party Mode, where Cress, Mint, Stahn, and Rutee will challenge you. After you beat them, agree to the help they offer, and you can see the Hero Ending, in which they defeat Bisley and Chronos, and even rescue Elle. It won’t be easy, though, as the battle with Cress’s party is perhaps the game’s greatest challenge. This ending has the same credits as the Debt Repayment ending.
