Maintain a Safe Distance for Artes Casting
As a master of long-range combat, it’s essential that Rowen be able to cast his artes from a position far from the front lines. If an enemy is approaching Rowen, immediately cancel any arte you’re casting and perform a strategic retreat. The Meteoric Waltz arte comes in handy for this; use it when an enemy has reached a position around one quick-step away to stagger the foe while Rowen propels himself backwards. Perform a back-step as soon as you land to put even more space between Rowen and his enemy.
Make aggressive use of Rowen’s Arte Tuning to deal additional hits to his foes.

Crowd Tactics—Drown Your Foes with a Series of Tidal Waves
Rowen’s powerful Tidal Wave arcane arte hits every enemy on the battlefield, and if you use the skills listed below to make it even stronger, you can win almost any normal battle simply by repeatedly casting it. The Queued Spellcasting skill is of particular importance, as it allows Rowen to pick up the casting process where he left off if he ever has to cancel to evade an incoming foe. That makes it possible to cast Tidal Wave on even the most chaotic of battlefields.
When farming for gald or EXP, continuously casting Tidal Wave is a good way to score quick battlefield victories.
Special—Gain a Combat Advantage in an “Opportune Moment”
When the Opportune Moment skill is active, Rowen will freeze time whenever he evades an attack with a back-step. This will provide an ample opening to get away or cast a spirit arte, so you should try to use evasive back-steps whenever enemies draw near. Note that this is a Linked Skill, so you can get more value out of it by partnering with a character like Jude, who has a long window of invincibility when back-stepping.
Linking with allies will provide more opportunities to freeze time, so link as much as you can!
Special—Pairing Conservation with Overclocked
The effects of Overclocked and Conservation do stack, netting you a 20% boost in artes damage with a 10% TP cost penalty. Since having both active at once mostly cancels out the drawbacks of each, it’s a good idea to activate them together.
