Assassin's Creed Origins Guide › Side Quests › Memphis Side Quests

Odor Most Foul

Prerequisite: Activated from Temple of Ptah’s Informant Table

Suggested Level: 20

REWARDS: 1,000 XP

Speak to the Priests by the Tombs

You pick this job up from the temple’s informant table (1). Head to the tomb (2) northeast of the temple to find a group of priests. Speak to the priest.

Find a Way Inside the Tomb

Use Senu to find the tomb’s entrance. There’s a location right around the corner from the priests (3) and yet a better one (4) around back. Go through the secret entrance to avoid detection from the bandits inside. Smash through the straw hut behind the tomb to reveal an entrance shaft.

Investigate the Stink

Light a torch and head through the tunnel. Stop at the end of the hallway before it bends left. The three Level 21 bandits in the next room would have seen you coming in through the other entrance. Take them out stealthily. Whistle for the guards one at a time to come into your hallway. Put a hole in their neck.

Enter the room the bandits were in and climb the stairs on the room’s left (east) side. Break through a wall at the top to raid a chest in a small room. Head back into the previous bandit chamber.

Investigate the Tomb to Trace the Source of the Stink

Enter the room to the west through the broken wall. The stink is strong in this room. Activate Animus Pulse. The investigation starts with the mummies on the candlelit slab on the left.

Head down the stairs, activate Animus Pulse, and investigate from the right to the left. Mummies are on the floor in the right corner at the bottom of the stairs. They are not the cause of the smell.

At the room’s other end are some offerings to chase the smell. There is also a bloodstain on the floor that leads through a barricaded wall. Smash through the wall and crawl through the crack.

The room you drop into is full of bloody mummies. Burn through the webs as you enter the adjoining room. Even more mummies. Investigate the crypt along the right wall. You see the flesh has decayed but the wrappings are still intact. Exit the tomb.

Reach the Wabet to Inspect the Mummification Process

Wabet

Head north to the wabet (5) and enter to begin the investigation.

Investigate the Wabet’s Mummification Process

Find the embalmer (6) in the northeast corner of the main room. He tells you that he uses natron, not salt, and says you should see the expert out back. On your way out to see the expert, you find the Burning Bush Papyrus Puzzle on a table in a small room in the back.

Speak to the Worker in the Yard about Natron

The natron expert tells you there’s salt in the natron and points you to the warehouse just north of the Great Temple.

Reach the Warehouse Where the Tainted Natron Is Kept

Natron Warehouse

Head southwest to the warehouse (9). Enter the facility to catch a masked man inside.

Find the Cave Where the Bandits Are Mixing Natron

Temple Cave Entrance

Send Senu up to find the northwest cave entrance (10) underneath the Temple of Ptah. Run through the temple neighbor’s backyard and into the hidden tunnel entrance. Light a torch and follow the tunnel to a chamber with four Level 20 bandits. Lure the closest guard to the tunnel entrance to you and assassinate him from around the corner.

Push into the room and hide behind an object. Throw a torch to get the distant guards’ attention. When they start investigating, put arrows in their heads to complete the quest. Take a Legendary weapon from one of the bandits.
