Find and Rescue the Freedom Fighter Apate
This quest is often discovered while on Side Quest: Playing with Fire in the Kyrenaika Roman Citadel. You can find the Report from Brutus Severus on the captain’s desk. This initiates the Carpe Diem side quest. Page over to Playing with Fire if you need to see a map of the fort with this building pinpointed.
Roadside Outpost
Follow the marker north along the main road from the citadel. When you get close, head off road to avoid detection, going east into the wilderness. Use Senu to locate the captive freedom fighter.
There’s around six soldiers at this outpost, but this is a heavily trafficked road and an obvious fight or dead body could get passerby’s attention.
Sneak down to the large boulder (3) behind the outpost and throw a sleep dart at the guard (4) in the field to the south. Sneak over to him and assassinate him in his sleep. Sneak to the tall grass in front of the boulders you were behind. Along the way, throw sleep darts at anyone on the outpost platform.
Continue throwing darts until you are out, if necessary. Once everyone is asleep, walk up to them in the order they went to sleep and assassinate them. If you see patrols coming down the road, then get to the tower (5), collect arrows, and wait for them to pass. Put arrows in them as they patrol.
Now release the freedom fighter (6) at the front of the outpost platform.
Escort Apate to Safety
With Apate following you, head east up the mountain to get away from the busy road.
Speak to Apate
She tells you that if you attack the fort, then she and her freedom fighters will help you.
Find and Assassinate Brutus Severus
Prasinos Outpost
Prerequisite: Approach the outpost
Suggested Level: 37
Location Reward: 900 XP
Location Objectives: Kill one captain and one commander, loot two treasures
During the day, Severus is in the Prasinos Outpost and at night he leaves the camp with only his most trusted men. We suggest getting him while he’s in the camp (they have ballistae and the freedom fighters will help).
Head north to Prasinos Outpost. Use Senu to locate Severus during the daytime. March up to the front gate and eliminate or avoid anyone leaving or entering the base.
Climb the south fence (6) between the gate entrances, and grab arrows from the nearby supply. Sneak west and climb to the watchtower’s top. Pass by the ballista (9) and continue to the end of the next watchtower (7). Put an arrow in the guard in the corner watchtower (8) to cover your flanks.
Now man the nearby ballista (9). From this high perch, strategically shoot all the lone soldiers in sight, not allowing anyone to escape your kill zone. This is such a high perch it’s just beyond many of your targets’ range of sight. If they get close enough to see you, they will try to flank you. You have 20 bolts; make them count. Make the commander (10) on the central bridge platform your first target.
You can also kill your main target as he patrols around this bridge platform area. Concentrate your fire on Severus first and then his bodyguard.
When you have shot everyone you can, begin hunting soldiers with your bow. Remain on the high platforms and pick off soldiers below. Loot the treasures and then confirm Severus’s death. You then receive Orders to Brutus Severus and the quest completes.
