Assassin's Creed Origins eGuide Side Quests Green Mountains Side Quests

Playing with Fire

Prerequisite: Complete Main Quest: The Final Weighing

Suggested Level: 33

Reward: 2250 XP

You receive the quest when you help Praxilla (1) in Green Mountains during Main Quest: The Final Weighing.

Find and Rescue Kade from the Kyrenaika Citadel

Travel to the Roman Kyrenaika Citadel and send Senu up to locate Kade in a prison cell (2).

Kade gets revved up and ready to kill Romans. For an easier quest, get him out of the restricted zone without him seeing any Romans. If it goes badly, he will follow a trail of Roman soldiers right into the heart of the citadel and you’ll be in an unbalanced war. Therefore, a good strategy is to clear all the soldiers from the small camp on the citadel’s south side.

Enter through the hole in the barricade (2) in the tall grass. Slip into the back flap of the tent to assassinate the guard who often stands in front of the tent (3). There are multiple arrow supplies here. Return when you need to resupply.

Make sure the nearest tower (4) is clear, then clear all the soldiers from around the east entrance (5). If occupied, clear the soldier in the central guard tower (7). Head west on the lower level and use the tall grass (6) near the shelters. Lure anyone patrolling nearby to a grassy kill zone.

Move to the west entrance (8) and kill any guards in the watchtowers. Work your way up to the prisons. You can head through the building (9) and use the hiding booth on the second level near the exit to lure guards outside to their demise.

Help Kade Save the Other Prisoners

Before you free Kade (10), open the cells—(A), (B), and (C)—and free the prisoners. This way, Kade won’t have time to go find trouble while you are busy freeing the prisoners, which is the next objective. The citadel is a heavily trafficked fort with patrols coming and going all the time, so the east gate road is going to be busy. Before you free Kade, check the east entrance one more time to ensure no soldiers are in sight.

Escort Kade out of the Prison Area

Free Kade and run west into the hills and as far away from the heavily trafficked road to the southeast as possible. Stay a good distance ahead of Kade so he won’t be tempted to look for trouble.

Speak to Kade

You tell him his mother, Nanet, is safe and that Praxilla took her to Balagrae. He tells you that a Roman engineer at the aqueduct invented a special ballista that could help the cause.

Speak to Vitruvius the Engineer at the Aqueduct

Travel northwest through the mountains to reach the aqueduct. If you’ve been there before, then use the Viewpoint to Fast Travel. If you have not already started Side Quest: The Good Roman, then when you approach Vitruvius (11), the intro cinematic for that quest begins.

Help Vitruvius with His Problem

If you have not completed The Good Roman, then do it now so you can reach the next objective in this quest. For help, page down to the next side quest. After completing The Good Roman, you must speak to Vitruvius again. He starts telling you his life story.

Follow Vitruvius

Follow Vitruvius as he travels to the other side of the aqueduct. He tells you that General Agrippa must have his notes on the special ballista. He says he cannot be part of a Roman sabotage but if you get the notes, he’ll destroy them.

Find and Steal the Formula from General Agrippa

Kyrenaika Roman Citadel

Prerequisite: Enter the Citadel

SUGGESETD LEVEL: 35

Location Reward: 900 XP

Location Objectives: Kill two captains and one commander, loot four treasures

Travel back to Kyrenaika Roman Citadel (12) to kill the general and get the notes. This time you must go inside. You might as well kill everyone there to complete the location objective. Use the watery tunnel entrance (12) to get inside. You exit into the southernmost fort prison (13). Climb to the top floor and access the wall walks. Begin clearing soldiers from the walks and then get to the top of the guardhouse (14) to assess the situation.

Assassinate soldiers as they patrol alone. Return to your perch to watch for the next soldier to leave. To stir things up, kill a lower-level guard with a single arrow and then quickly hide behind the roof peak. This creates more opportunity to single out soldiers for assassinations. The hiding booth outside the south wall is a great backup kill zone.

Keep an eye on the nearby guard tower (17). If it gets occupied, then shoot the soldiers from your perch (14) before they blow your cover.

Using the rooftops, arrow supplies, ballista, and hiding booth in this corner of the fort allows you to cleanly eliminate most everyone in the courtyard (16). This includes General Agrippa. Make a special trip up the middle wall walk to set the brazier trap (15) and then return to your comfortable kill zone until the numbers have thinned and you can move around more freely.

General Agrippa—who wears an alpha lion’s pelt—is a tough cookie to put down. A clean assassination is unlikely. It’ll most likely end up in a fight. It’s best to clear all the soldiers from the area and leave him for last so you don’t have to deal with his reinforcements. Confirm his kill to receive Vitruvius’ Formula.

Destroy the Greek Fire Stockpiles

Three objective markers appear, indicating the location of the Greek Fire stockpiles: (18), (19), (20). These take you into the fort’s east side, where you must eliminate even more soldiers, allowing you to move without constantly looking over your shoulder.

Use fireballs or torches to destroy the vases of Greek Fire. Return to the aqueduct when the job is done.

Return to Vitruvius at the Aqueduct

Return to Vitruvius (11) at the aqueduct camp. Find him around his tent and speak to him to complete the quest.
