Assassin's Creed Origins Guide › Side Quests › Faiyum Oasis Side Quests

The Jaws of Sobek

Prerequisite: Discover Faiyum Oasis

Suggested Level: 28

REWARDS: 3,750 XP

Unlocks: Side Quest: Bad Faith

Investigate the Tannery’s Storeroom

Krokodilopolis

You find a pool of blood beneath the tannery’s (1) door in Krokodilopolis. You can’t break the door down, so climb to the rooftop and drop in through the skylight. Use Animus Pulse to locate the clues in the tannery.

Investigate the gold in the crate near the sealed and bloody doorway, the hanging crocodiles, the baby croc mummies, and the crocodile mummies on the floor that are stuffed with gold and valuables.

Reach the Dock Near the Tannery

Climb back out of the hole in the ceiling and talk to the man outside to the north. You notice that soldiers are harassing him. Shoot the soldiers in the back of the head with arrows before you get close.

Rescue and Speak to the Man

Free the prisoner and talk to him. The priest tells you that the cult has a trireme that follows trade routes south of the city.

Find and Get the Manifest from the Cult’s Trireme

Send Senu up to locate the ship. Currently it’s around the Neorion Naval Arsenal in the south, but it sails along a route from the naval base to the northwest, heading for the Trireme Stranding Camp (3) on Uab Nome’s coast. By the time you steal a sailboat from the shore and catch up to the trireme, it’ll be passing the base.

Sail up to the back of the cult’s ship, get onto the aft, and crawl up. There are five soldiers onboard. Stand up high above them on the aft and use sleep darts on those you can see; then leap down and kill the others, coming back to assassinate the sleeping. Or hang off the deck’s edge and lure and pull enemies into the water.

Follow the marker on the ship to the table and interact with the instructions. It says the cargo is being delivered to the Trireme Stranding Camp (3).

Get Evidence to Expose the Corruption

If the ship is still moving after you rid it of its crew, then you can ride it close to the stranding camp; otherwise, get off, get a sailboat, and get to the camp.

Trireme Stranding Camp

Prerequisite: Approach the blockade

Suggested Level: 30

Location Reward: 600 XP

Location Objectives: Kill one captain, loot one treasure

Exit your boat and use the tall grass along the shore to get past the gate (3). Lure the archer (4) standing near the gate to the grass and assassinate him. Or if his back is to you, sneak up behind him and kill him.

Use the grass along the back of the camp, next to the canyon wall, to get deep into the camp without being spotted. Ignore the guards with their backs to you at the canyon gate (5). Keep moving for the next patch of tall grass behind the tents.

If there are multiple guards under the pergola (6) behind the captain’s tent (7)—where most of the soldiers in this camp hang out—then meditate to see if they all leave or if only one remains. Lure him behind the tents in the tall grass and assassinate him.

Now using the captain’s tent to hide attacks, begin luring guards from in front of the tent to your kill zone. You can move to the grass on both sides of the tent for cover and to get away from multiple searching guards.

The captain (8) often sits at the desk in his tent. If you have gotten rid of the two brute bodyguards from the front of the tent, then you can sneak in and assassinate the captain from behind. Interact with the shipment correspondence (evidence) on the captain’s desk. Interact with the crocodile mummies on the floor in the back of the tent. Take the treasure and find this evidence to complete the location objective and the quest.
