Assassin's Creed Origins eGuide Main Quests Kanopos Nome

Egypt’s Medjay

Prerequisite: Complete Main Quest: Aya

Suggested Level: 12

Rewards: 900 XP, Golden Medjay Badge

Unlocks: Main Quests: The Scarab’s Sting; The Lizard’s Mask; The Hyena; and The Crocodile’s Scales

Details: Bayek seeks Apollodorus in order to meet the exiled Queen of the Nile.

Find Apollodorus’s Contact Near the Hippodrome

Beset by concerns that he has not, in fact, killed the Snake, Bayek parts with Aya and sets out to Kanopos in search of Apollodorus, who is said to be all knowing and should be able to tell Bayek the real identity of the Snake.

Leave the Paneion (1) and travel east into Kanopos Nome. Head toward the massive Lageion Hippodrome (2). There you can find a young man standing on its outer northwest corner; he tells you that you can find Apollodorus at the lighthouse at night.

Speak to Apollodorus at the Lighthouse in Kanopos

Do not meditate and turn the day into night until you have synchronized the lighthouse (3) Viewpoint in northeast Kanopos. Once you have done so, meditate in that location and a cinematic begins. In it, Bayek meets Apollodorus, who is helping some injured man to safety. Apollodurus recognizes you from your name as being Aya’s Medjay. Bayek asks him for the real identity of the Snake, but before Apollodurus will answer that question, he asks Bayek to complete a task to prove himself trustworthy.

Menelaite Trireme

Prerequisite: Approach the Menelaite Trireme (ship)

Suggested Level: 11 or higher

Location Reward: 300 XP

Location Objective: Loot one treasure

Menelaite Trireme Approach

There are countless ways to approach this challenge, since it is so open with no castle walls to deal with. The main advantage is all the water in the harbor, which provides instant hiding space all around the battlefield. Although not a prerequisite, we strongly suggest you defeat all the soldiers in the area since Damastes will want to fight any soldier he sees as soon as you break him out of the crate (11). Doing this allows you to control the chaos.

One approach to consider is leaping from your boat (4) and swimming underwater (to stay undetected) up to the bulkhead (6) on the docks’ east side. You can get onto the rooftop of the nearby shelter (7) and shoot soldiers around the Menelaite Trireme (5); you are within range, yet immediately undetectable by others. Cross the rope from the rooftop to the hoist on the pier (8) while shooting more soldiers within your range on either side.

From the top of the bowsprit (9) of the middle ship (or from the high crow’s nest), you can shoot all the remaining soldiers to the west, including those on the pier with the cage (11), those in the camp (10), and any who might be on the westernmost ship at the pier’s end.

Once everyone is dead, grab the treasure from under the tent on the Menelaite Trireme (5) and then free Damastes (11).

Escort Damastes to Safety

Follow Damastes as he runs around in a rage, looking for a soldier to kill. He runs southeast. Follow him closely, as he may or may not run into random soldier traffic on the road. He’s looking for a fight and will start one given the opportunity. He stops near a pier (12) on the harbor’s east side.

Speak to Damastes

Deal with all the soldiers, then talk to Damastes. He has come to rest on the east pier (12). You ask for the scroll and he says he hid it on their ship, which is now at the bottom of the lake.

Find and retrieve the scroll in Kanopos Lake

While standing next to Damastes, send Senu up in the air and east over the lake to spot the location of his sunken ship (13). It’s only 200 meters out. Take the nearby boat to the location, dive in, and retrieve the scroll from below.

Give the Scroll to Apollodorus

Apollodorus has come to you to retrieve the scroll. You can now find him in a small boat (14) on the lake to the southeast of the sunken ship. Swim or commandeer a boat to get to him and board his boat to hand over the scroll. He tells you now that he may be able to trust you.

Bring Apollodorus to His Villa

Take control of Apollodorus’s boat and paddle it southwest into the channel (15) to reach his villa. He is about to introduce you to Cleopatra. Along the way, you tell him about taking out Gennadios. He tells you that act may cause you problems ahead. He says the Phylakes are a tight group and will come looking for you. Once you reach the marker at the pier to the south (16), exit the boat and Apollodorus will lead you to the villa (17).

Follow Apollodorus to Meet with Cleopatra

Talk with Apollodorus as he leads you up an inclining dirt road to the villa. Along the way, he tells you how Aya got thrown into their circle of trusted allies and then how to present yourself around Cleopatra—how to speak to her correctly. A cinematic takes over once you reach the top of the pathway.

In the cinematic, Apollodorus becomes distressed that you did not kneel before Cleopatra as he instructed before the meeting. Aya makes an appearance and stands by your side the entire time. Cleopatra says that Eudoros (the man you killed) was a member of the Order of Ancients, which was responsible for her exile, tearing her from her throne.

You learn that the Snake has many heads and those heads make up the Order of Ancients. One called the Scarab rules in the Nile Delta, and a shadowy figure called the Hyena controls Giza. There’s also one that calls himself the Lizard. Eudoros was known as the Hippo, and the Crocodile oppresses Faiyum.

Cleopatra names you her Medjay, and you agree to assassinate all these targets—anything to get to the one that killed your son.
