Assassin's Creed Origins eGuide Main Quests Sapi-Res Nome

The Scarab’s Sting

Prerequisite: Complete Main Quest: Egypt’s Medjay

Suggested Level: 15

Reward: 1,125 XP

Unlocks: Main Quest: The Scarab’s Lies

Details: Bayek travels to Sais to meet the informant Harkhuf to learn about one of his targets: the Scarab.

Travel to Sais

Sapi-Res Nome: Sais

Apollodorus sends Bayek to Sais to track down a member of the Order of Ancients named the Scarab, a cruel shadow terrorizing the region. The brewery closes at night, but Harkhuf can be found at his home. Meditate it to daytime to meet him at the brewery. The brewer (1) is too scared to talk about the Scarab in public and asks you to retire with him at his home.

Follow Harkhuf to His Home

Follow Harkhuf across the street and into his home (2). He tells you horrific stories about what the Scarab does to people, namely burying them up to their necks in the desert sand. He almost believes that the Scarab is a myth and says there’s real villains in Sais. He moves a large vase from a large crack in the back wall of his home. This reveals a room secret; access it by squeezing through the crack.

Look at Harkhuf’s Informant Table

Inside the secret room are arrow supplies and an informant table that contains a Story of the Scarab letter. Read it. It concerns evidence that the Scarab may be real after all.

Meet Harkhuf outside

When you squeeze back out of the room, Harkhuf tells you about Ghupa, an old man who had his tongue cut out when he asked questions about the Scarab. Ghupa is the father-in-law of Taharqa, the most powerful man in the region who was mentioned in the letter you just read. His grandson, Kawab—playing outside—tells you where you can begin to look for Ghupa.

Find and Rescue Ghupa from Camp Pyrrhos

Camp Pyrrhos

Prerequisite: Speak to Harkhuf

Suggested Level: 16 or higher

Location Reward: 400 XP

Location Objective: Kill one captain, loot one treasure.

Camp Pyrrhos Approach

The first objective in this quest is to free an old man from a small military camp in Sapi-Res Nome. This is a small military outpost lightly guarded by Level 15 to 17 soldiers. Six of the soldiers patrol in pairs, so it’s a little difficult to quickly take them out stealthily with arrows. Two soldiers guard each of the main entrances on either side of the camp. But the captain seems to hang out around the south fence, where you can find a hole (3) to slide under. You can hide in the tall grass just on the other side of the fence.

Whistle to get the captain’s attention if he wandered away a bit. Execute him (4) stealthily and then carefully make your way to the brazier (5) to set a trap. To avoid being spotted by the two soldiers in the treasure tent (7), follow the tall grass along the inner fence before the brazier platform.

The east (6) or west gate soldiers may spot you, but once you set the brazier trap, you can easily take on the weaker soldiers all at once if you must. If needed, escape outside the fence and hide in tall grass; when things clear up, get up into a tower and shoot the remaining soldiers. This camp has a crazy amount of arrow supply areas and animal cages that can be used to cause chaos.

Find the treasure (7) in the largest tent to complete the location objective and then free Ghupa (8) from the cage. Open the prison and pick him up.

Carry Ghupa Back to His Home

Call your mount or use one of the horses in the camp. Drop Ghupa on the horse and take him back to his home in Sais (9). You can use the “follow road” option if you have the destination marker selected. This commands the horse to take you right to Taharqa’s estate without you having to do the “driving.”

Once you stop in the marker at his front door, Kawab runs up to welcome his grandfather home. Taharqa’s wife enters and dismisses the old man’s quest for the Scarab as a silly waste of time, but Kawab hands you a letter that his grandfather took from the camp. It says that the Scarab is summoning warriors to the city of Letopolis. Oddly enough, that is where Taharqa has been spending a lot of his time. His son hands you a toy to give to his father when you meet him.
