The Last Bodyguard

Prerequisite: Discover Alexandria

Suggested Level: 10

Reward: 500 XP, Miscellaneous Item (+75 Gold)

Unlocks: Side Quest: Higher Education (when Accidental Philosopher is complete)

Follow the Merchant

Bayek runs into a merchant (1) on the docks of northern Alexandria, begging for someone to guard his precious cargo.

Follow the merchant north to the docks, where you meet his cargo, his spoiled daughter Kara (2). You become her bodyguard while she shops for tonight’s reception.

Bring Kara to the Docks in the Egyptian District

Enter and take control of the nearby boat. Allow Kara to get aboard. Follow the canal west and take the first left (south) passage around the Kibotos Arsenal.

Follow Kara

Stop at the dock (3) at the marker on the canal’s east side. Kara jumps out and heads to her horse, Pegasus (4).

Speak to the Horsemaster

Speak to the horsemaster, who wants payment for the horse. Bayek and Kara tell him to take it up with her father.

Escort Kara

Mount Pegasus with Kara. On your map, find the marker directing you to the shops in the middle of Alexandria (6). The quickest route there is to head north on the small path you’re on and then turn right (5) on the paved road heading east. You might run into some soldiers before you reach the paved road. If you physically bump into a soldier, they’ll become hostile. To avoid an ordeal, be careful moving through crowds. If a confrontation occurs, deal with them immediately with some arrows to the head.

Speak to Kara

Dismount Pegasus and talk to Kara once at the market. She warns you that a Phylakitai here is in love with her; if he sees you, he will get quite angry. She suggests you get out of sight. When the conversation ends, scale the side of the nearest building overlooking the market and watch for the soldiers.

Defend Yourself

Use Senu or your bow to mark the three Level 10 soldiers in the market; the largest closely follows Kara. You have two choices: you can either fight (which could escalate into a huge battle) or wait for them to leave. If you fight, use arrows to take out the two soldiers farthest away from Kara and her brute. Then use the rooftops and ropes between them to find the opportune moment to drop down and assassinate the infatuated Phylakitai. If you decide to wait, the guards go away and you will not have to assassinate anyone.

Bring Kara to the Eastern Market

Remount Pegasus with Kara. Ride north up the same road and take a right (7) at the largest street in Alexandria. Head east toward the Great Synagogue, and stop in the marker at the eastern market (8).

Follow Kara

Follow Kara into the eastern market until she stops at a crate (9).

Carry the Crate

Equip a light or warrior bow and then pick up the crate for Kara; however, drop it immediately, as a horse thief just took off with Pegasus.

Get Pegasus from the Thief

The horse thief is a soldier who rides west on the main road that you just traveled. Run out the west exit in the direction of the horse thief, and shoot a flurry of arrows at him. Hit him before he gets too far and you have to call your mount; otherwise this becomes a drawn-out chase. If you hit him with an arrow and he lives, then he stops to fight. Continue to attack him until he falls from Pegasus.

Bring Pegasus to Kara

Mount Pegasus and ride him back to the eastern market (8) in the Great Synagogue, where you find Kara and her father. Dismount in the marker (9) in the market.

Speak to Kara’s Father

Kara’s father rewards you for being a hero bodyguard for the day.
