Animal lairs, found throughout Egypt, house elite wildlife—stronger than normal animals. These creatures are typically found at some kind of den, surrounded by weaker animals of the same species. Kill the alpha animal to earn XP and collect an increased loot value from the corpse.
Keep these tips in mind during hunting trips:
- Scout an area carefully before attacking a lair. Other animals or hostile soldiers may roam nearby. Also note any vantage points that you can fire from or escape to when needed. Be sure to mark the alpha animal beforehand in order to easily track it, especially in case it escapes.
- Some animals are less active at nighttime, giving you the ability to catch your target off guard.
- If available, tame a good fighter and take it into the fight for an added advantage.
- On occasion, animals of opposing species fight it out amongst themselves. Take advantage of this when possible to weaken a pack. Sometimes you can spook a prey toward a pack of predators, causing a nice distraction. You can also carry a corpse to a predator, keeping it busy for a while.
- Use all the tools at your disposal. The elite animals often hang out with weaker members of their species, which can become overwhelming if you are not careful. Sleep darts can be used to reduce numbers, making the fight more manageable. Or, by starting out with a poison dart in your target, you can begin the fight with an added advantage.
