Assassin's Creed Origins eGuide Main Quests Sapi-Res Nome

The Scarab’s Lies

Prerequisite: Complete Main Quest: The Scarab’s Sting

Suggested Level: 18

REWARDS: NA

Unlocks: Main Quest: Pompeius Magnus

Details: Bayek meets with Letopolis’s leader, Taharqa, to discuss a plan to find the Scarab once and for all.

Speak to Taharqa in Letopolis

Sapi-Res Nome: Letopolis

Sandstorms risk to take all of Letopolis, but they are nothing compared to the constant threat of the Scarab, who has transformed the desert into a graveyard. When you enter the sandy city, you should first visit the Letopolis blacksmith (1) to upgrade your favorite weapons and shield. You are thrown into battle as soon as you meet Taharqa, so it’s best to be prepared. Next, scale the Temple of Horus to synchronize the Letopolis Viewpoint (2).

Follow the marker to find Taharqa (3) wandering somewhere in the Temple of Horus. You introduce yourself and he replies with announcing his title: grand planner of Sais and steward of Letopolis. You tell him you met his family and that he may know how to find the Scarab. He asks you to speak in private.

Follow Taharqa

Follow him a short distance into a building (4) to the north. Inside, Bayek hands him the wooden toy Taharqa’s son gave him. You press him for information on the Scarab, but Taharqa says he preys on the weak, so he is no threat to him. Bayek is startled that he is not upset with what the Scarab did to his father-in-law. A servant rushes in and disrupts the conversation to announce that bandits are attacking the ruins again. Taharqa asks you to come fight with him.

Escort Taharqa

Follow Taharqa back out the door and into a brutal sandstorm. Visibility is at a minimum. This also makes Senu unavailable. You turn north and head for the first confrontation with bandits on the northern steps (5). Consider using a heavy blunt weapon to damage multiple enemies attacking you at once. These are Level 18 bandits and you should be pushing Level 22 by now. It should be rather easy to take them out. Taharqa moves west after taking out about five enemies here.

The next battle site (6) is to the west, where you will find three of Taharqa’s men fighting three bandits. Help them finish off these foes. Switch between the heavy blunt and a fast sword or dual swords to see which works best for you in this situation. After you kill them, follow Taharqa through the nearby building heading south to an intersection (7), where a large fight occurs.

Here you battle around nine bandits, assisting Taharqa’s men. Taharqa may circle a nearby building looking for a tenth bandit, but the next major battle lies back toward the Temple of Horus by entering the west hall (8). You’ll battle around six or seven bandits in the west hall. The one arriving late to the battle carries a shield, so be prepared for dodging and shield break moves.

Next, Taharqa hunts for the bandits outside the south exit (9). Here you battle a group of six bandits; two have shields. Finish off the soft targets quickly and then concentrate on the bandit with the shield. This is the last of the ruin battles.

Speak to Taharqa

Speak to Taharqa after winning the five bandit battles. He’s impressed by your fighting skills and asks you to help finish them off for good by attacking their camp. You are reluctant to help at first, but he insists that he will not share any info he has about the Scarab until you help him.

Follow Taharqa

Follow Taharqa south to his five soldiers and seven horses (10). You can call your own ride if you are that attached. Follow Taharqa southeast to Plesionhudor Hideout (11) on the northern tip of the new region, Ineb-Hedjet Nome.

Kill All the Bandits Inside the Camp

Plesionhudor Hideout

Prerequisite: Approach the hideout

SUGGESTED LEVEL: 18 or higher

LOCATION REWARD: 400 XP

LOCATION OBJECTIVE: Kill one captain, loot one treasure

The bandits in this hideout are Levels 17 to 19. There’s one captain and about eight other bandits. Taharqa will just march in through the main, watery entrance (11) to this cave hideout. There’s no need to go stealthy here; just follow him in and take out the enemies as a group. Use the warrior bow for the infiltration and then switch to your favorite weapon. The objective is to kill all the bandits so yellow markers appear above the remaining stragglers. Hunt them down. They may be out somewhere scouting for enemies outside the camp.

Notice there are two rooftop entrances into the cave: Dropping down into hole (12) places you in the first cave you reached if you stormed in through the front entrance (11). The rooftop hole (13) drops you into a room with a haystack cart and the treasure.

There’s a third cave that branches off from the first (12), where you can find cages. A Memphis priest is captive there. Free him when the bloodshed is over. The connecting room is the treasure room, so collect that and ensure that the captain is dead to collect the location objective reward.

Speak to Taharqa

After you kill all the bandits, speak to Taharqa in the prison cave. You grill him about who the bandits were to him and if they have anything to do with the Scarab. He says no and that he will bring the freed priest back to the city and wants you to meet him at his house. There he will tell you anything you need to know over food and wine.

Meet Taharqa at His Home

Return to Letopolis and enter Taharqa’s temple home (3) to have food, drinks, and conversation. His family, whom you’ve already met, made the trek from Sais for dinner. You raise glasses to honor the savior of Letopolis (Bayek). Suddenly Bayek becomes dizzy and passes out. Have you already guessed the identity of the Scarab?

Free Yourself from the Sands

Khensu Nome

The next thing you know, you wake up in the desert buried up to your neck in sand… like the horror stories of the Scarab you’ve heard about. Whistle for your horse to pull you out. The horse stops short of you being able to grab its reins, but Senu comes to the rescue and scares the horse closer to you. You grab the reins and get pulled out of what would have been your grave. The desert heat has you seeing and hearing the ghosts of your past. Besides other bodies in the nearby sand craters, you can find one Silica in one of them.

Find and Retrieve Your Gear

Mount your horse and ride toward the marker to find your gear.

When you come to what looks like a mirage (the trees around small pools of water in the middle of the desert), look for the ruins on the right. There’s a chest in there that could possibly give you a weapon.

Continue following the marker for another 120 meters to reach Camp Achlys. This is where your gear is stored. Send Senu up in the air to locate the building holding your gear while also marking what few soldiers are in the camp.

Camp Achlys

Prerequisite: Approach the camp

SUGGESTED LEVEL: 19 or higher

LOCATION REWARD: 400 XP

LOCATION OBJECTIVE: Kill one captain, loot one treasure

Approach the south side of the brazier tower (16) and climb to the top. Set the trap just in case. On the tower’s west side are birds and bird poop, symbolizing a possible eagle dive. Jump from the railing down into the haystack cart below and immediately assassinate the soldier standing next to it.

Now look north to the two tents in front of you. Each has a soldier standing at the entrance. There are small access flaps in the back you can slide under and then stealthily come up behind each soldier and assassinate him. Perform this move on both soldiers at both tents. The soldier at tent (17) is the captain. Steal the treasure from the second tent (18). This completes the location objective for the camp.

Head west into the small yard and free the captive from the corner cage; then enter the building to retrieve your gear from the chest inside (19). You obtain a letter to Sefetu. Your gear was supposed to be payment for him from Taharqa.

Find and Assassinate the Scarab

Temple of Horus

If you feel resentful, get to the rooftop and take out any remaining soldiers using the ballista. Call your mount and follow the marker back to the Temple of Horus in Letopolis (20).

When you return to the temple from the desert, you will reach the southwest side first. This is a great way to approach this next challenge. Send Senu up to mark Taharqa’s position and all the soldiers on the temple rooftop and around the temple. Most of the soldiers on the ground are concentrated around the southwest side.

Follow our platform jumping and climbing pathway we mapped out from (20) to (21) to avoid all the ground troops. Stop on top of the pillars before the temple rooftop at position (21), as this is just about as close as you can get without being spotted by the corner roof guard (22). Shoot him in the face with a predator arrow. The large brute soldier (24) will not spot you from this distance.

Now jump to the rooftop behind the stack of lumber the soldier was standing near (22) so the other rooftop soldiers won’t see you. Wait for a minute to see if the soldier (23) patrolling the lower platform accesses the rooftop. If so, put an arrow between his eyes.

Now shoot the patrolling soldier (25) if he is on your end of the rooftop. Next, use the hiding booth to lure and assassinate the brute (24). If he will not be lured, shoot him in the face and run into the booth before he sees you if he doesn’t die.

That leaves one more soldier (26) on the rooftop that patrols the back edge. Take him out and then get on the right side (27) of the rooftop skylight opening and look down. Position yourself over the kneeling and praying Scarab on the temple floor below. Perform a jump assassination on him.

Make sure it’s him and not one of his guards. You do not need to confirm the kill. You enter the white room after the assassination and do not have to battle the guards left alive when you return to this world.

Taharqa’s family enters the temple to see you over their family member’s body. Obviously they are all upset even after you explain who he really was.
