Assassin's Creed Origins eGuide Side Quests Faiyum Oasis Side Quests

Fighting for Faiyum

Prerequisite: Complete Side Quest: Shadya’s Rest

Suggested Level: 30

Rewards: 4,500 XP

Speak to Hotephres at Philadelphia Farm

Philadelphia Farm, Faiyum Oasis

Speak to Hotephres and Khenut (1) at Shadya’s shrine.

Speak to the Farmer

Head east into the fields to find the farmer (2). He won’t talk seriously about retaliation until his work is finished.

Burn the Pyres for the Farmer

Help the farmer finish his job. Light a torch and light the three, objective-marked straw pyres on fire. Alternatively, you could light arrows on the pyres the farmer lights and then shoot flaming arrows at the targets. Or throw firebombs at them.

Speak to the Farmer

The farmer tells you that he and other farmers do not respect Hotephres, but when the farmer learns that you defeated the captain, he is willing to stand behind you in an uprising. He agrees to spread the word.

Speak to Hotephres at the Philadelphia Farm

Hotephres is now on his farm estate balcony (3). When you share the farmer’s news, the conversation is interrupted by soldiers on the grounds searching for you.

Defend the People of Philadelphia

Hotephres is fired up and takes off running through the house to get down to the courtyard to fight the three Level 28 and 29 soldiers. Select a warrior bow and leap from the balcony, down to the top of the statue. Drop-assassinate one of the three soldiers below. Shoot the remaining soldiers in the face.

You will likely kill all three of them before Hotephres makes it through his estate to reach the battle. A conversation between you, Hotephres, and Khenut occurs as soon as the battle is won.

Follow Khenut

Follow Khenut as she mounts a horse outside the courtyard. Mount the other horse and follow her into Haueris Nome, where you meet a group of rebels (4).

The rebels’ leader has been captured and is held at the nearby dam (5).

Rescue the Leader of the Faiyum Rebels

Cleon’s Dam

Prerequisite: Approach the blockade

Suggested Level: 31

Location Reward: 600 XP

Location Objectives: Kill one captain, loot one treasure

Send Senu up over the nearby dam to find the rebel leader and to mark the Level 30 to 31 soldiers. Defeat as many of the soldiers as you can because once you free the Faiyum rebel leader, he’s going to choose a dangerous route to freedom and will want to fight. For this reason, we suggest setting the brazier trap before you free him.

A good approach is avoiding the gate guards and diving into the water on the dam’s southeast side (5). Reach the middle watchtower’s rooftop and set the brazier trap (6). Jump back into the water and swim northeast toward the dam’s other end. Scale the wall and hang on to the top edge (7), looking for patrolling soldiers. Lure any in the area to the edge and throw them over.

Sneak up behind the guard (8) at the northeast dam entrance and assassinate him. If another guard is across the road, do the same to him. There’s a hiding booth next to the northwest tower that you can use to lure nearby soldiers to their silent death.

Get into the water (9) on the dam’s northwest side and then scale the northwest side of the captain’s tower (he usually stands guard at the top of the tower). Pull up slowly into the guard tower, assassinate the captain (10), and take the treasure to complete the location objective.

From the captain’s tower, look down to the captive rebel (11) and see how many soldiers are guarding him. If more than one, you can put arrows in them. If only one, you can glide down the connecting rope and assassinate him. Free the prisoner (11).

Escort the Leader of the Faiyum Rebels

The rebel leader heads straight across the bridge toward the captain’s tower (10) and gets onto the dam road heading for the south entrance and guard booth. Defeat the remaining soldiers with the leader’s help. Beware that there may be a Phylake in the area, and this crazy guy you just freed may lead him right to you. See the Activities section for tips on finding and defeating all of them in “Phylake’s Prey.”

The leader takes you to a spot in the hills (12) not far from the dam.

Assassinate the Commander of Fort Boubastos

Fort Boubastos

Prerequisite: Approach the blockade

Suggested Level: 31

Location Reward: 1,500 XP

Location Objectives: Kill two captains and one commander, loot four treasures

Head southeast to Fort Boubastos. You approach the northwest section of the base. Take advantage of this location to easily take out the captains. Simply step through the V-opening in the wooden fence (13) and enter the tall grass on the other side. The captain often patrols here and stops with his back to you in this exact spot. Assassinate him from the tall grass.

Walk south with the canyon wall on your right, sticking to the tall grass and the canyon wall as it opens to a small area with a guard tower. Continue around the tower, slipping by soldiers, and sneak into the tunnel entrance (14) behind the tunnel guard.

An alternate route is to dive into the hole (15) and swim through a long subterranean tunnel to come up in the prison (16). There’s usually a guard there. Sneak up beside him and assassinate him. Both the tunnel entrance (14) and the water tunnel entrance (15) lead to the prison (16). Release the prisoners to cause more distractions.

Once you come out of the prison, the rebels and farmers enter the base and start attacking soldiers. All chaos breaks loose. Use the chaos to your advantage and just run to the brazier (17) and set the trap so you and the rebels don’t have to face reinforcements.

Kill the Commander

Head for the central building (18) with the commander and the insanely huge brute captain. Climb the wall to the rooftop. Use the hole in the ceiling to drop down on the captain. That’s the easy part. Now defeat the captain. Use sleep darts and multiple assassinations from behind to take the beast down. Confirm the kill, take the two treasures from the little ground-floor room, get the one from the upstairs room, and then trot across the fort to get the treasure in the chambers near the main gates.

Speak to Hotephres and Khenut Outside Fort Boubastos

Head out the gates (19) to the southeast and go to the top of the hill. Hotephres and Khenut (20) await you there. They thank you.
