LEFT/RIGHT GUARDED HOOK
Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range
Pearson does his best work when he’s standing and throwing hard with his swift hands. Throw these big defensive hooks to crack the opponent from striking distance.
LEFT/RIGHT UPPERCUT
Level 3—Muay Thai Clinch, Offense
Utilize Pearson’s strong dirty boxing skills to punish his opponents with these crushing uppercuts in the Muay Thai Clinch. This is a good way for him to work over elusive strikers.
LEFT/RIGHT HOOK
Level 2—Open Guard, Top
“The Real Deal” can bring down some effective ground-and-pound when he postures up in Open Guard, Half Guard, or Mount and rains down these hard hooks from the top.
STRENGTHS
- Boxing
- Muay Thai
- Ground-and-pound
Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson is a competitive UFC lightweight who uses his fast hands and durability on the feet to wear his opponents down with a measured pace of steady aggression.
“The Real Deal” is a skilled technical boxer with good footwork and strong technique strikes from the outside that help him hammer hisnopponent while remaining guarded in the stand-up exchange.
Apply pressure and attack with quick strike combos to emphasize his hand speed. If the opponent is getting the better of “The Real Deal” on the feet, try clinching and battering him with punishing uppercuts in the Muay Thai position.
He isn’t the strongest or most technical grappler, but he can bring down some impressive ground-and-pound from the top when he postures up and fires his heavy technique strikes.
Pearson’s ideal place to be in a fight is usually on the feet, however, mixing things up with long strikes from the outside and fast combos up close.
WEAKNESSES
- Strength
- Ground top grappling
Though fairly fast on his feet, “The Real Deal” lacks raw power and strength, which takes the sting out of his strikes and factors into his opponents’ ability to control him in the grappling game.
Striking with Pearson can be risky, so bring him down with a takedown and control him from the top with superior strength and grappling technique.
He can also be muscled around in the clinch if that’s your preference, although he is a little more proficient at grappling in that area.
Either way, he doesn’t fare well when matched up with a superior grappler, so clinch up or take him down to put him at a distinct disadvantage.
He is vulnerable to strikes in the clinch and on the ground, and it’s fairly easy to pass into dominant position so that you can land heavy, unanswered shots.
“The Real Deal” is also susceptible to submissions, provided you’re skilled at applying subs.
