ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES

HENDO'S RIGHT STRONG STRAIGHT

Level 3 - Both Standing, Striking Range

This fast and very long straight right hand is one of Henderson’s best technique strikes. Land this heavy right a few times to rock any opponent, no matter how tough their chin might be.

SUPLEX TO SIDE CONTROL, TOP

Level 3 - Double Underhook, Offense

Grab the opponent in the Double Underhook clinch and hurl him to the floor with this epic technique takedown. This is a great way to bring the fight to the floor when normal takedowns are too risky.

STTONG LEFT/RIGHT PUNCH

Level 3 - Open Guard, Top

Henderson’s ground-and-pound is even more powerful than his standing strikes. Posture up and hammer opponents with these heavy punches from Open Guard, Half Guard, or Mount.

STRENGTHS

  • Champion Experience
  • Wrestling
  • Knockout power

Though he’s still an active and competitive fighter in the UFC light heavyweight and middleweight divisions, Dan “Hendo” Henderson is already a legend in the sport of MMA, having fought for and captured numerous PRIDE and UFC championships over his long and decorated carrier.

Hendo has recorded many a win through the use of his lethal right hand—attack relentlessly with his heavy right to rock his rivals with the sheer force behind each devastating blow.

Many strikes also have impressive range, which helps make up for his lack of footwork.

“Hendo” is also very good at clinch grappling and takedowns—he can throw heavy uppercuts in the Muay Thai Clinch, or he can perform dominant technique throws from other grappling clinches such as the Double Underhook position, hurling the opponent to the ground with overwhelming strength and perfect technique.

He can even perform technique throws from various defensive clinch positions, such as Double Underhook, Defense and Body Lock, Defense—these high-level throws will turn the tables on his opponent as he tosses them to the ground, landing on top in Side Control.

WEAKNESSES

  • Ground bottom grappling

Henderson’s tremendous punching power makes him a threat on the feet, but his lack of speed and footwork allows defensive counter-strikers to avoid most of his offense and counter with sharp blows of their own.

“Hendo” is a beast in the clinch, and his ground-and-pound is lethal, so it’s usually best to avoid the grappling game and try to get things done on the feet against him instead.

Exploit his lack of footwork to create angles and gain the advantage in the stand-up battle.

If your fighter is good at grappling from the top, you may want to chance ducking under one of his big right hands and taking him to the ground—Henderson has good takedown defense, but he struggles to get off his back.

Outwrestle him from the top to grind out a decision victory, or outpoint him on the feet with superior speed and technique—just don’t try clinching with this expert wrestler.
