ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES
DUCKING RIGHT/LEFT HOOK
Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range
“Darth” possesses knockout power but lacks speed, making these technique strikes ideal for slipping in and scoring big damage on the feet. Try comboing between them!
JUMPING SINGLE LEG TAKEDOWN
Level 3—Double Underhook, Offense
Once Bader has caught his opponent in a clinch, he’s able to put his wrestling skills to use and secure takedowns incredibly easily. This same takedown is available to Bader in several other clinch positions.
STRONG LEFT/RIGHT PUNCH
Level 2—Open Guard, Offense
Bader can posture up and land these brutal technique strikes in many ground positions, even Open Guard. Naturally, they’re more effective when thrown from Half Guard or Mount.
STRENGTHS
- Former NCAA wrestling champion
- Knockout power
- Takedowns
Ryan “Darth” Bader is a college wrestling champion, and therefore looks to impose a dominant ground game against his opponents.
Bader’s great strength adds to his grappling ability, helping him finish his takedowns and secure dominant positions from which he can bring down heavy punches.
“Darth” is no slouch on the feet, either, possessing knockout power coupled with dangerous technique strikes.
Though he doesn’t fare well off his back, Bader enjoys excellent takedown defense, and can therefore feel free to open up on the feet until he decides to bring the fight into his world of ground-and-pound.
WEAKNESSES
- Slow
- Poor kicks
- Vulnerable in clinch
Though he wields crushing power in his fists, Bader suffers from a lack of speed that’s especially noticeable during striking exchanges against fast, rangy opponents.
His lack of kicking skill also limits his striking arsenal. Keep Bader on the end of your punches and kicks, and be ready to sprawl and stuff his powerful takedowns at any moment.
If you aren’t afraid of potentially fighting off your back, clinch up with Bader to exploit his lack of clinch-striking defense. Maintain a dominant clinch position and work “Darth” over with elbows and knees until he crumbles.
He also has a hard time fighting off his back—surprise him with a takedown if he’s being aggressive on the feet and leaving himself open.
