ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES
RIGHT FLYING KNEE
Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range
Unleash this lightning-quick knee by first performing a step before throwing the knee. This technique strike packs a punch and can be slipped in to rock unsuspecting rivals.
STRONG LEFT/RIGHT KNEE
Level 2—Muay Thai Clinch, Offense
Barao’s knees are equally lethal in the clinch. Tie up in the Muay Thai Clinch and unleash these punishing technique strikes to work the opponent over.
DIRECT CATCH TO ARM TRAP REAR NAKED CHOKE
Level 2—Back Side Control, Top
Throw the opponent to the mat from the Back Clinch to land in Back Side Control, then quickly lock in this incredibly effective choke to end his night with a fantastic sub.

Renan Barao is a well-rounded fighter with excellent submission grappling ability coupled with knockout power and lightning-fast strikes. His kicks are especially effective and come at laser speed, landing hard from afar and sapping the will to fight from his foes.
Barao is also dangerous in the clinch, where he can unleash crushing knees or bring his opponents to the ground with powerful throws. Once the action hits the floor, Barao is free to work his exceptional ground game.
Barao is equally dangerous from the top or bottom, able to dominate with superior grappling control and lock in painful submissions from all manner of positions.

Barao is a dangerous opponent whose well-rounded skills make him an offensive juggernaut. He is susceptible to strikes, however, and his poor cardio can give strategic counter-fighters a means to defeating him.
Be patient when fighting Barao, but look to land strikes when the chance permits, especially kicks to the legs and midsection—these will frustrate him because they interrupt his combos and erode his stamina.
Become more aggressive as you begin to wear Barao down, pushing the pace to force him to continue to work and drain his lackluster gas tank.
