ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES

DUCKING RIGHT/LEFT HOOK

Level 2 - Both Standing, Striking Range

These strong hooks begin with a brief elusive windup, helping Hominick slip his opponent’s incoming strikes and land his own heavy, technical counters.

HENDO'S RIGHT STRONG STRAIGHT

Level 2 - Both Standing, Striking Range

Hominick throws his straight right hand just like Dan Henderson—fast and heavy, with a long reach to make sure he makes contact. Pick his opponents apart with this excellent technique strike.

SWEEP TRANSITION TO SIDE CONTROL, TOP

Level 2 - Half Guard, Bottom

“The Machine” doesn’t fare well when trapped on bottom on the ground, but this technique transition is a great way for him to escape. Move to Half Guard and sweep the opponent to wind up on top.

STRENGTHS

  • Speed
  • Grappling

Mark “The Machine” Hominick is an excellent kickboxer with superior speed and precise striking technique.

“The Machine” also has great conditioning, allowing him to push the action and wear down his opponents with his relentless striking offense.

He isn’t as skilled at fighting in the clinch or on the ground, so it’s best to keep the fight on the feet—avoid throwing too many strong strikes during stand-up exchanges, and favor quick strike combos instead to punish the opponent without risking the short takedown.

Hominick’s kicks are even more painful than his lightning-fast hands—batter his opponents’ legs from afar to slow them down and make them even more vulnerable to his fast-paced striking game.

If the action ever hits the ground, focus on submission defense and work at transitioning back up to standing—he can’t threaten with many effective subs off his back, and generally doesn’t fare well on bottom, so get back to your feet as soon as you can.

WEAKNESSES

  • Strength
  • Takedowns

“The Machine” is a lightning-quick technical striker on the feet, so don’t get caught exchanging with him for long.

Engage him in the stand-up game just long enough to get him to open up with power strikes, then plant him on his back with a well-timed takedown.

Once he’s been taken down by a superior grappler, it’s fairly easy to expose his limited ground game.

Posture up and work some heavy ground-and-pound from Open Guard or Mount, but avoid striking in Half Guard because he can sweep you from there.

He’s also susceptible to submissions, so work his body to soften him up for some gnarly subs from the top.

Hominick can also be controlled in the clinch as well as on the ground—use the clinch to beat him up if your fighter happens to excel at Muay Thai, rocking Hominick with knees and elbows in dominant clinch position.

Regardless of your fighter’s specialty, turn the fight into a grappling match to slow down “The Machine” and take away his greatest advantages.
