ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES

LEFT/RIGHT GUARDED HOOK

Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range

These two rangy haymakers are thrown with great force and can help Cariaso rock his opponents from the outside. Combo between them to really bring the fury.

JUDO ASHI BARAI TO  HALF GUARD, TOP

Level 3—Over/Under Hook

When you tire of working over your opponent in the stand-up game, lock up in the Single Collar Tie clinch and then transition to Over/Under Hook to perform this excellent judo clinch trip.

RIGHT STRONG UPPERCUT

Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range

This fast and heavy upward punch packs plenty of power and is perfect for catching opponents in the face as they attempt to dive in for a takedown.

STRENGTHS

  • Muay Thai
  • Boxing
  • Leg kicks

Chris “Kamikaze” Cariaso is a fast and powerful kickboxer with devastating power in both his hands and feet. Use his agility to remain elusive, landing leg kicks to punish the opponent and slow him down—this will make your rival easier to outmaneuver and counter.

Cariaso suffers from limited skill in most other areas of the fight game, but he does possess an incredibly effective judo trip from the Over/Under Hook clinch that quickly lands him in Half Guard—a good position in which to posture up and bring down some heavy ground-and-pound.

Chris won’t fare well on the ground against gifted submission artists, however, so don’t try clinching up or taking these types of opponents to the mat—keep the fight standing by keeping your distance, and punish these rivals with fast, elusive kickboxing techniques.

WEAKNESSES

  • Takedowns

“Kamikaze” is a dangerous striker whose stand-up game must be respected, but he doesn’t have much to offer in most other areas of the fight game.

Don’t risk exchanging with this quick kickboxer on the feet for long—only use your striking as a means of setting up your takedowns, with the primary goal of putting Cariaso on his back and taking him out of his element.

“Kamikaze” is relatively easy to control once you’ve got him on the mat, and he has very limited submission skill.

He isn’t even particularly good at ground defense, suffering heavy damage from his opponents’ ground-and-pound.

Cariaso has solid takedown defense, however, so you’ll need to risk engaging him on the feet in order to create openings to successfully shoot in.
