ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES
Right Jumping Knee
Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range
This fast-flying knee caught Dong Hyun Kim by surprise at UFC 132, leading to a first-round knockout for Condit. Perform a step before unleashing this lightning-quick technique strike.
Crushing Left/Right Knee
Level 2—Muay Thai Clinch Cage, Offense
Condit isn’t particularly strong in the clinch, but he can bring some brutal knees against his opponents when he presses them against the cage in the Muay Thai Clinch.
Sweep Transition to Mount, Top
Level 1—Rubber Guard, Bottom
“The Natural Born Killer” is always dangerous, even when fighting off his back. Perform a technique transition from Open Guard Clinch, Bottom to move the opponent into Condit’s Rubber Guard, then lock in a tight triangle or sweep to Mount.
STRENGTHS
- Very well rounded
- Finishing ability
- Heart
A dangerous striker and submission grappler, Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit overwhelms his opponents with lightning-fast striking combinations and relentless aggression.
His durability and dangerous ground game allow Condit to attack with great confidence while exchanging on the feet. Unleash his combos at will, pressuring the opponent to overwhelm him with Condit’s superior speed and cardio.
He’s also very effective when striking more elusively from the outside, lending him versatility on the feet as he uses powerful kicks to batter his rival’s body and legs from range.
If the opponent decides to take Condit down, they’ll find him extremely dangerous off his back, threatening with sweeps and submissions in many bottom positions on the ground.
WEAKNESSES
- Strength
- Takedowns
- Takedown defense
Few fighters would dare to call out “The Natural Born Killer” after witnessing the result of his bout with Dan Hardy at UFC 120, yet Condit does have a few weaknesses.
His clinch game isn’t strong, allowing talented brawlers and Muay Thai artists to overwhelm him with brutal strikes and dominant control in the clinch.
Condit is incredibly dangerous with his submissions, so it’s best to avoid exploiting his vulnerability to the takedown—strive to keep the fight standing instead, hoping to catch Condit with a big counter.
Utilize the clinch only if you’re getting beaten on the feet, then look to back Condit into the fence and brutalize him with heavy clinch strikes, which he is vulnerable to.
If you find yourself on the ground, hurry and escape back up to your feet, even if you’re on top—”The Natural Born Killer” is far too dangerous on the ground, even when fighting off his back.
