ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES
QUICK HEAD KICK
Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range
Bisping’s speed and footwork pair nicely with this fast head kick. Use this unorthodox technique strike against aggressive opponents to catch them off guard and interrupt their combos.
LEFT/RIGHT UPPERCUT
Level 2—Muay Thai Clinch, Offense
The closeness of the clinch allows “The Count” to batter his opponent with strong uppercuts. Similar technique strikes are also available in the Single Collar Tie.
LEFT/RIGHT HAMMER FIST
Level 2—Open Guard, Top
Once he brings his opponent to the mat, Bisping can unleash some incredibly brutal ground-and-pound in the form of devastating hammer fists. These technique strikes are available in nearly all sub positions.
STRENGTHS
- Ground-and-pound
- Discipline
Michael “The Count” Bisping is a well-rounded fighter with strong kickboxing and excellent ground-and-pound. Unleash his quick combos when exchanging with opponents to beat them on the feet with Bisping’s excellent speed and timing.
Frustrate rivals with kicks from the outside—Bisping has strong technique kicks that can rock opponents fast. If the opponent opens up with aggressive combos and power strikes, shoot in for a short takedown so you can begin to work Bisping’s crushing ground-and-pound.
“The Count” isn’t great at passing guard while on top, but he can bring down heavy hammer fists in nearly all ground positions once he manages to posture up into sub position.
Look for these brutal technique strikes each time Bisping succeeds in bringing his opponent to the mat.
WEAKNESSES
- Clinch game
- Ground top grappling
Though dangerous with his striking on the feet and on the ground, “The Count” suffersfrom a lackluster clinch game that can be exploited by opponents who shine in that field of combat.
While clinching with “The Count” puts you at greater risk of being taken down, Bisping’s ground control is not particularly strong from the top, and it’s relatively easy to prevent his transitions and work your way back up to your feet.
Bisping’s submission game also falls short of many of his peers, so you’ve little to fear except his fists while he’s on top.
Dictate the pace of the fight by controlling “The Count” in the clinch or on the ground, breaking him down with punishing strikes to the body and head without giving up position.
