DIRECT CATCH TO TRIANGLE CHOKE

STRENGTHS
- Well rounded
- Aggressive style
- Finishing ability
An aggressive striker with great BJJ offense, Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira tallied an amazing record prior to coming to the UFC, and logged his first two victories in the UFC to bring his record to 14-0.
Standing Muay Thai and BJJ are his specialties, so utilize his strong Muay Thai head kicks and impressive reach to control the stand-up. You’ll be happy to keep the fight on the feet with his Speed, Cardio, and Footwork ratings in the 80s. Though you’re not going to beat too many guys in the wrestling department with Oliveira, pull into guard and go after submissions from all angles.
He is very good grappling off his back and has a great guard. If you’re facing a ground-and-pound fighter or wrestler, it’s a good strategy to clinch and defend to a stalemate so the ref stands you up.
WEAKNESSES
- Power
- Wrestling
- Ground-and-pound
Stay away from Oliveira’s Muay Thai and out of his submissions, and he’s a lot easier to deal with. Take him down and get into a dominant position—stay out of his guard—and lay down the ground-and-pound.
He can be overwhelmed on top, and even with his fantastic record in the ring, he is susceptible to getting knocked out and submitted.
He has suffered a couple of losses against fantastic lightweights in the division in Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller. Again, stay out of Oliveira’s submission positions and nullify his striking by using wrestling to take him down and control the top.
