ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES
DUCKING LEFT HOOK
Level 2—Both Standing, Striking Range
This may be Nogueira’s only standing technique strike, but at least it’s a good one. Duck and hurl this heavy left to rock his opponents with an elusive power shot.
LEFT/RIGHT KNEE
Level 2—Muay Thai Clinch, Offense
Bring some pain with “Little Nog’s” big knees in the Muay Thai Clinch. He can throw heavy uppercuts in this position as well.
DIRECT CATCH TO TRIANGLE CHOKE
Level 3—Open Guard Clinch, Bottom
When Nogueira’s foes have tasted enough of his fists, they may decide to take him to the ground. Surprise them with this lethal triangle off of his back.
STRENGTHS
- Boxing
- Knockout power
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt
Rogerio Nogueira (“Little Nog”) is a dangerous UFC light heavyweight fighter with strong boxing and excellent submission grappling skills.
He is the twin brother of Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira, who fights at heavyweight.
Use “Little Nog’s” heavy left hand to crack his opponents on the feet, potentially rocking them with his knockout power.
Push the action without fear of the takedown—he’s even more dangerous on the ground, especially when fighting off of his back.
Each time the opponent takes you down, threaten him with deadly triangles from the Open Guard Clinch and powerful kimuras from Half Guard.
Or use one of Little Nog’s many sweeps from the bottom and flip the opponent over to gain top position yourself.
WEAKNESSES
- Speed
- Kicks
- Takedowns
“Little Nog” is a dangerous submission grappler, so it’s best to avoid his ground game and challenge him in the stand-up instead.
Nogueira lacks speed in his combos, so try beating him to the punch on the feet while remaining elusive and kickboxing against him from outside of his countering range.
He isn’t skilled at throwing kicks, allowing gifted kickboxers with speed in their strikes to really give him some problems.
Land lots of leg kicks to slow down “Little Nog” and drain some of the power from his takedowns.
He struggles to bring the action to the mat, so keep the fight on the feet to prevent him from imposing his most effective offense.
