STRENGTHS
- Wrestling
- Constant movement
- Champion experience
Frankie “The Answer” Edgar is a remarkable fighter who uses his excellent speed, footwork, and deter-mination to outmaneuver, frustrate, and outlast his opponents wherever the fight happens to take place.
Though he’s small for his weight class, few can hope to keep up with Edgar’s furious movement speed and fluid boxing.
When playing as the lightweight champ, outmaneuver your opponent and throw quick strikes in search of openings.
When the time is right, start rattling off blistering combos to light up your opponent in the striking game. Dive in for a takedown to mix things up and drive the opponent to the mat with a commanding shot.
Power your rival to the floor and then work him over with some of Edgar’s relentless ground-and-pound, scoring points and doing plenty of damage from the top.
He has outstanding durability and conditioning, so pour on the pressure and work your adversary over until you manage to wear him down and grind out the win.
WEAKNESSES
- Strength
- Kicks
“The Answer” has few weaknesses, and the lightweight champ makes up for the ones he has with his amazing
speed, skill, and determination.
Still, Edgar is quite small for his weight class, and elite lightweight grapplers may be able to simply take him to the ground and hold him there, scoring points with the judges as they control the top position.
Edgar is not particularly dangerous off his back, lacking finishing ability in his submissions from the bottom—this means there’s little to fear in taking him down, aside from his outstanding takedown defense.
Strive to score short takedowns against “The Answer” to bring him to the ground and shut down his blistering striking offense.
Edgar is a champion-level wrestler with excellent sweeps off his back, mind you, so you’ll need to struggle to achieve dominant position before you can feel comfortable opening up with much ground-and-pound.
Don’t bother attempting any submissions unless Edgar becomes gassed or rocked—the champ’s sub defense is too high.
