ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES

RIGHT OVER HOOK

Level 3—Both Standing, Striking Range

Hunt throws this huge right hook with tremendous force, making it his most powerful standing technique strike. Land this heavy right to test the chin of even the most resilient opponent.

RIGHT SPINNING BACK FIST

Level 1—Both Standing, Striking Range

This long, unorthodox technique strike helps Hunt surprise and rock his opponents from afar. Though its technique level is low, the Super Samoan is strong enough to make this strike very effective.

STRONG LEFT/RIGHT UPPERCUT

Level 2—Muay Thai Clinch Cage, Offense

Use Hunt’s strength and clinch game to trap elusive strikers who are picking him apart on the feet. Land these strong uppercuts in the Muay Thai Clinch to bring the pain.

STRENGTHS

  • Solid chin
  • Size
  • Knockout power

Mark “Super Samoan” Hunt is a big, strong striker with devastating power in his right hand. His ability to take a punch on the feet makes up for his lack of speed, allowing him to “take one to land one” as he wades forward with heavy strikes on the feet.

Strive to land his big right hand, as this is by far his best weapon, easily able to rock any opponent when it lands flush.

Though slow, his kicks are also extremely effective—land lots of leg kicks to slow the opponent, making up for Hunt’s limited speed and footwork.

The Super Samoan is vulnerable to grapplers and submission artists, so avoid the ground game and try to keep the fight standing by picking your power shots wisely.

If the opponent is outworking you with superior speed and movement on the feet, employ Hunt’s strong clinch game to trap and punish these elusive strikers with strong uppercuts up close.

WEAKNESSES

  • Cardio
  • Takedowns
  • Ground game

Hunt’s striking power is unrivaled, but his combinations are somewhat slow, and his great size causes him to sacrifice some speed and footwork on the feet.

Still, he’s happy to take a punch in order to land one of his own, so don’t risk counter-striking with this dangerous kickboxer—avoid the stand-up battle and bring the Super Samoan to the ground instead by ducking under his heavy punches and kicks with well-timed short takedowns.

He’s like a fish out of water once he’s been planted on his back, unable to effectively attack, defend, or improve his position from the bottom against most grapplers.

Take full advantage of this gaping hole in his game by bringing him to the ground as quickly as possible and controlling him from the top.

His submission defense is practically nonexistent, so pass to dominant position and lock in a tight sub to bring his night to a swift and painful end.
