ULTIMATE TECHNIQUES

BROCK’S RIGHT STRAIGHT

Level 3—Both Standing, Striking Range

Lesnar isn’t the most tactical striker, but the sheer force behind this long, heavy straight makes it a devastating blow when it lands flush. Fire this technique strike to lash out from the outside.

SUPLEX TO SIDE CONTROL, TOP

Level 3—Double Underhook, Offense

When you don’t feel comfortable shooting in on the feet, favor suplexes from the clinch instead of Lesnar’s powerful takedowns, because these are safer to perform.

LEFT/RIGHT HAMMER FIST

Level 3—Open Guard, Top

Lesnar’s ground-and-pound comes with devastating force and ferocity. Get the takedown, then posture up and smash his adversaries with his lethal hammer fists from Open Guard, Half Guard, or Mount.

STRENGTHS

  • Size
  • Former NCAA champion
  • Athleticism

Brock Lesnar had a brief but dominant run in the UFC, rocketing through the ranks to capture the UFC heavyweight title in just his fourth professional MMA bout.

He uses his size, strength, and elite wrestling ability to drive his opponents to the ground, pin them helplessly, and smash them with relentless ground-and-pound.

Though Lesnar can throw a strong right straight on the feet, he’s vulnerable when standing—strive to close in and grapple with his opponents by either clinching up or diving in for a powerful double leg.

Get opponents to the ground and then use his great strength to pass their guard as you punish them with heavy shots from the top.

Lesnar also has excellent strength and control in the clinch, although his clinch strikes don’t pack the same force as his devastating punches and knees on the ground.

WEAKNESSES

  • Kicks

Lesnar’s striking ability is amateur at best, and he doesn’t react well when he eats clean strikes on the feet.

Exploit his lumbering footwork and outmaneuver the former champ on the feet, keeping away from both him and the cage.

Land quick strikes from the outside and retreat each time he tries to close the distance and grapple.

Beware of his long and powerful straight right hand, and keep your hands up at all times when exchanging from the outside.

He isn’t especially dangerous off his back, but he has dominant control in the clinch and in top ground positions—still, submission specialists with good grappling skills should feel comfortable taking Lesnar to the mat and working to set up a submission.

His ground game has yet to fully evolve, and he’s susceptible to subs, so attack with submissions from the bottom whenever he’s attempting to control you from the top.
