“One Punch” is known for his strong striking ability, and these powerful, elusive hooks are among his best technique strikes on the feet.
JUMPING DOUBLE LEG TAKEDOWN
Level 3—Both Standing, Striking Range
This powerful double leg puts Pickett’s strength and speed to good use in driving his opponents to the mat. Once down, he can pass his rival’s guard and land some heavy ground-and-pound.
DIRECT CATCH TO PERUVIAN NECK TIE
Level 2—Sprawl, Top
Pickett’s strong takedown defense often causes him to trap his opponent in a sprawl. If the opponent is tired, look to lock in this unique choke and end the night with a stylish submission.
STRENGTHS
- Boxing
- Heart
Brad Pickett is a quick and strong UFC bantamweight contender with knockout power in his hands and a fairly strong top game on the ground.
Use his speed and agility on the feet to land hard punches that can quickly add up to rock rivals.
“One Punch” is most dangerous while exchanging with his fast and heavy hands on the feet, but he can also handle himself in the clinch, as well as on the ground when fighting from the top.
He can unleash some strong striking from the clinch and on the ground, partic-ularly when he uses his grappling strength to transition and advance to dominant position.
He has unique choke submissions from the back that can catch his opponents by surprise with their sudden ferocity.
WEAKNESSES
- Kicks
- Ground bottom grappling
“One Punch” is an extremely dangerous striker with few weaknesses on the feet, so try to score a takedown against him when he begins to open up with his swift striking combinations.
Pickett’s lack of grappling defense while he’s on bottom is a hole in his game that can and should be exploited to maximum advantage—take him to the ground to nullify his lethal striking ability and work at passing his guard with superior grappling from the top.
Control Pickett once you get him down, and work him over with occasional fits of ground-and-pound as you steadily advance toward dominant position.
He has surprisingly good submission defense, so don’t go for any subs until he’s been worn down by your smothering ground game.
Or forget submissions entirely and just keep hammering away with heavy shots from the top while controlling the top position and working toward the TKO.
