Finishing ability
Gary “Big Daddy” Goodridge was a terror back in the days of PRIDE, famous for overwhelming his opponents with his tremendous strength and power behind his strikes.
A gifted kickboxer with explosive technique, Goodridge can easily rock and drop anyone in his division with his lethal hands, elbows, knees, and kicks.
He has decent footwork and speed for a heavyweight, so try to keep the fight standing and punish his opponents with fast, powerful striking.
Be cautious when facing takedown artists, for the only place that “Big Daddy” doesn’t fight well is off his back. He can work the clinch to great effect—employ his crushing clinch game against elusive strikers who are getting the better of him in the stand-up.
Trips and suplexes from the clinch are also his best means of bringing the fight to the floor, where he can unleash his devastating ground-and-pound after posturing up in various top positions.
Look to land technique strikes from the top and quickly rock Goodridge’s rivals each time he manages to bring them to the mat.

Ground bottom grappling
“Big Daddy” is a powerhouse striker with devastating knees and kicks in addition to his heavy hands, so his opponents would do well to respect his striking power.
Try to pick him apart on the feet with superior speed and footwork if you’re able, but don’t go chasing after the knockout.
Counter-strike against the aggressive Goodridge, looking to stun him with a quick counter he never saw coming. If he is swinging wildly on the feet, try shooting in for a short takedown and putting him in a precarious position on bottom.
He doesn’t fare well when forced to fight off his back, lacking in submissions and grappling ability—struggle to pass to dominant top position, striking his midsection to wear him down.
“Big Daddy” is susceptible to submissions, so be patient while on top and take your time while working to set up a fight-ending sub.
