OBJECTIVES (TARGET)

You are being invaded

Find [named chasing Fixer]

(Optional) Kill [named hacker] before he evades

1 OVERVIEW // THE CHASE IS ON!

Online tailing has a delightfully simple premise: The chasing Fixer appears in the target’s game, locates them, profiles them, observes them until a percentage meter reaches 100%, and then leaves without being seen: like a ghost. Violence against the target fails the mission.

The target is secretly invaded by an unknown human enemy. Under normal circumstances the target will never be aware of the invasion. But if the foe is spotted, his or her life must end as quickly as possible: like a murder. Violence against the chasing Fixer is not only encouraged, but is also mandatory.

PHASE 01 /// INFILTRATION

Chasing Fixer: You begin by accessing either the Online Contracts world map or the Smartphone App and waiting for a rival player to tail. When one is found, wait for this purple information bar to appear and accept the contract.

Target: You are unaware that a chasing Fixer is in your world and there’s a good probability you will never know that an invasion just happened. However, you must be between missions for an online tailing to occur.

PHASE 02 /// INTERCEPTION

Chasing Fixer: You’re in! You immediately have a target on your minimap, and a countdown from five minutes. During this time, you need to reach the target’s location (shown on your minimap). Do this quickly, but without your foe spotting you. Hide away so your profile doesn’t show up on your target’s smartphone.

Target: Are you sure you aren’t being watched? Who’s that shifty character in the shadows? Why can’t you access that security camera? You still won’t know you’re being tailed until you try to start a new Mission or other event. Once this happens though, use the given search area to locate your opponent. Profile civilians around you, or just start blowing stuff up to cause the foe to move and reveal himself.

PHASE 03 /// OBSERVATION

Chasing Fixer: Target acquired! Without being spotted, start to profile your target. To do this, you must have a visual on your foe (whether it’s in person or via remote camera). Profile, and you begin to observe the target. Continue to do this as a percentage ticks up to 100%, but don’t get spotted.

Target: What was that? Is someone out of place, or a vehicle driving in a strange manner? If you see suspect behavior, don’t hesitate to use your profiler so innocents show up on your smartphone (allowing you to ignore them), and continue to check around until your suspicions are confirmed! When you profile the enemy, his observation will stop. You will then need to intercept him and kill him before he evades. The good news is; if you manage to profile the Fixer, no matter if you catch him or not, you’ll gain notoriety!

PHASE 04 /// EVASION OR ERADICATION

Chasing Fixer: If the target spots you, your observation objective fails. You must now evade your foe (who appears as a purple arrow on your minimap) and flee their search area (a white circle around six to eight blocks in diameter). You can’t kill your foe; you must flee, without them killing you in the process.

Target: Kill him! If you manage to find the Fixer before he completes his tailing, eradicate him at the earliest possible point. Use any and every method of foe disposal you know—shooting, melee strikes, vehicular manslaughter, infrastructure hacks. Take that Fixer down before he escapes!

3 NOTORIETY REWARDS

What kind of Notoriety rewards or losses should you expect from this game mode? The scale of the potential Gain or Loss is based on the relative notoriety of between you and your rival.

Chasing Fixer:

  • Major Gain: Fixer has much more lower notoriety than the target.
  • Minor Gain or Loss: Fixer and target have notoriety close to each other.
  • Major Loss: Fixer has much more higher notoriety than the target.

Target (only if aware of the Chasing Fixer)

  • Major Gain: Target has much more lower notoriety than the Fixer.
  • Minor Gain: Fixer and target have notoriety close to each other.

Chasing Fixer and Target: Partial Success

This gives to the players a percentage of the potential Gain or Loss based on the progression of the observation before it was stopped.
