_DECRYPTION

3–8 PLAYERS

OBJECTIVES

(Everyone) Retrieve the file

(File Carrier) Hold the file to decrypt it

(File Carrier Teammate) Protect the file carrier

(Player Without File) Steal the file from the enemy

DECRYPTION // OVERVIEW

Decryption is a free-for-all (3 to 4 players) or team match (5 to 8 players), with the object being to reach and decrypt a file. The following information is paramount to learning for your first few matches:

You begin by choosing from one of three weapon loadouts. Three additional loadouts become available after unlocking Progression Rewards. Although your guns and projectile offensive is limited, you have access to Jam Coms and Blackouts too.

You appear as Aiden Pearce on your screen but look like a random citizen on everyone else’s screen. If you’re playing a team match, every enemy is color-coded red. Any teammate is color-coded blue.

The key file is color-coded yellow if it hasn’t been taken (or it has been dropped and not picked up yet). The first player to the file takes and holds it. The file can’t be passed to other teammates.

Whenever a player is holding the key file, a percentage timer ticks up from 0 to 100%. When it reaches 100, the player holding the file—or their team—is the winner. There is also a clock timer, which can be employed to stop matches at the end of a specific time period; though the team holding the file at 0 seconds still loses as no one managed to decrypt the file in time.

OVERVIEW /// File Transference

For the most part, the graphic user interface (GUI) of the screen is similar to other multiplayer modes and the single-player game. But check the top-left corner for information specific to Decryption.

/// Neutral Information

Ready to retrieve or file dropped: No one has the file. It should be picked up by you or your team.

Download stalled: Someone has used a Jam Coms to temporarily halt the file decryption. You have more time!

/// Positive Information

You have the file (enemy theft): You have the file, but an enemy is trying to steal it from you. Engage, flee, use Jam Coms, or escape.

You (or your teammate) have the file (key): Keep the file for as long as you can. Defend yourself from others. Find teammates to help you.

Teammate has the file (shield): This appears for 10 seconds after one of you retrieves the file. During this period, enemies cannot use wireless theft to steal the file, so you have a short period of time to escape, find friends, and plan tactics.

/// Negative Information

Enemy has the file (theft): The enemy has the file, and it is being stolen. In team games, it means a teammate is stealing the file, and you should help them. In free for all games, it means you or a mutual rival are stealing the file.

Enemy has the file (key): This appears for 10 seconds after the enemy retrieves the file. During this period, you cannot use wireless theft to steal the file, and you have a short period of time to regroup, find friends, and plan to intercept.

Enemy has the file (shield): One member of the rival team just picked up the file, and there are 10 seconds when you cannot use wireless theft to steal the file, so you have a short period of time to wait, attack, and plan interception tactics.

LOADOUTS

During Decryption contracts, players choose between six predefined loadouts. The first three do not need to be unlocked, while the final three are unlocked by winning contracts as Progression Rewards.

// Weapon Wheel

Note the screenshot, which shows how your Weapon Wheel is set up. Only five slots are used, and you can’t swap these around. Working clockwise you have: empty slot, explosive item, primary weapon, Jam Coms (1), empty slot, Blackout (1), secondary weapon, and empty slot.

// Ammunition and Respawning Times

In addition, it is important to know how much ammunition is contained in each weapon; how much you start with and receive when you respawn after death; the maximum ammo you can carry, and when the ammunition automatically regenerates to your person, and the amount. All are detailed below:
