OVERVIEW

There are many clandestine operators with unknown proclivities who may seek to benefit or improve your standing as your investigations continue to yield results. As you progress, your smartphone may intermittently indicate the location of an “item of interest.”

If you uncovered all six Chicago districts by infiltrating all of the ctOS control centers, and if you uncovered more map knowledge by activating all 13 of the ctOS towers, then expect to see an uptick in the frequency of obtaining items of interest.

WHAT’S IN THE BAG?

Items of interest occur in one of two different ways:

A citizen of Chicago has communications regarding a suspicious delivery. Hack him or her.

They randomly appear on your world map.

Once either of these events occur, ctOS sends out an alert. Eventually, the police arrive and confiscate the bag, but as long as you act immediately, you have enough time to plot a course to it when prompted. Look for the icon on your main map. The item in question is always a nondescript bag (usually a paper or bowling bag). It is located in one of 93 locations across Chicago but always appears randomly.

Journey to the location of the map icon, and search the vicinity for a bag just like the one shown here. Inside, you’ll usually find a set of valuables; cold, hard cash; a crafting component; or a crafting tool. If the item doesn’t benefit you immediately (e.g., you receive random jewelry), take it to a pawnshop to sell.
