SECRETS AND LIES
There are 101 Audio Logs scattered throughout the world of Watch_Dogs. These provide insight into the backgrounds of the characters and of the world they inhabit, which makes them a must-have for any fan who’s interested in fleshing out the game’s story.
An Audio Log is a short, journal-style spoken message. They can be found on PDAs, smartphones, wifi radios, and notebook computers, which you can either hack with your phone or through a remote camera feed. Any item that contains an Audio Log glows blue until it’s hacked.
Once you find an Audio Log, it’s stored in Aiden’s smartphone for the rest of the game, where you can listen to it whenever you want.
If you collect an Audio Log during a mission, it triggers an autosave and will stay in your collection even if you’re forced to restart from prior to the point where you collected the Audio Log. You don’t have to recollect them if you die after finding one.
Audio Logs are sorted in Aiden’s smartphone menu by the character who recorded them.
AIDEN PEARCE (5)
You begin a new game with Aiden’s first four Audio Logs (01-04) already recorded in his phone. These do not count toward progression.
Aiden Pearce 05*
Upon your return to Aiden’s room at the Owl Creek Motel in “Bottom of the Eighth”, hack the notebook computer on the couch by the door.
BEDBUG (3)
Bedbug 01*
During “By Any Means Necessary” in Act III, after you pass through the drug-packing room, there’s a locked side door that you may remember from when you came through guiding Bedbug earlier in the campaign. Unlock it and go in to find some electronic parts, a stack of cash, and an Audio Log in the corner next to the door.
Bedbug 02
During “Uninvited”, while you’re planning your ambush in the abandoned factory, there’s a smartphone on the table near the security footage you’re looking for. Hack it to find this log.
Bedbug 03*
You can’t grab this Audio Log until “By Any Means Necessary” in Act III, when you personally infiltrate Rossi-Fremont Tenements. Once you get inside, take the elevator up from the lobby, then look for a locked door underneath the ramp up to the next level. You can unlock it using the junction box next to it. Inside is a bunch of ammo and a notebook computer that contains this log.
BLUME ENGINEERS (6)
The Blume Engineers’ Audio Logs are scattered around the abandoned Ogden Steel factory on Abbot Island, which is only accessible by boat until you reach “A Blank Spot There-ish” in Act II. Each file is found on an old wireless radio.
Blume Engineers 01
During “A Blank Spot There-ish,” the closest of the three generators you have to reactivate is on top of a small building on the northwest side of the island. At the base of that building, on its south face, look for a wifi radio next to an old mattress, near one of the freight entrances.
Blume Engineers 02
The wifi radio that contains this Audio Log is lying on a stack of pallets at the end of the alley next to the shipping container that conceals the elevator ride to the Bunker.
Blume Engineers 03
This wifi radio is on top of a stack of shipping containers past the locked gate on the south end of Abbot Island, where you can’t see it from ground level. Use the hackable cargo crane to carry yourself across the gap, then cross the gap through the open container and turn around to find the radio.
Blume Engineers 04
On the northwest side of Abbot Island, on the water, look for a wi-fi radio inside one of the homeless men’s cardboard boxes.
Blume Engineers 05
On the north side of Abbot Island, follow the old train track into an alley full of debris between two warehouses. The wifi radio you want’s on the north side. A slight complication is that you have to come around from the south end of the alley to circumvent an impassable fence, but that’s easy to do once you have the run of the island.
Blume Engineers 06
On the south end of the island that contains the Bunker, look for a boombox lying on the ground between the rows of shipping containers.
DAMIEN BRENKS (9)
As mentioned, six of Damien’s nine Audio Logs are found by hacking hideouts and completing ctOS breaches.
Damien Brenks 03
At the Racine Restoration shipyard, during “Breakable Things”, look for a PDA inside the garage below Racine’s office.
Damien Brenks 08*
During “Dressed in Peels,” after you break out of your cell, head up to the office on the third floor of the prison cellblock and hack a phone on the desk to find this log.
Damien Brenks 09
When you infiltrate Blume’s campus in Pawnee during “The Future Is in Blume”, look inside the cafeteria. A PDA on the table in one of the booths contains this log.
IRAQ (8)
Iraq 01
During “Jury-Rigged”, when you unlock the ctOS tower outside the Rossi-Fremont housing development, you’ll find an old smartphone in the same room as the tower, directly across from the door.
Iraq 02
There are several large bundles of white PVC pipe in the northeast corner of the Rossi-Fremont housing development in the Wards. One of them has an abandoned smartphone lying on top of it, which you can hack to receive this Audio Log. You can pick this up during “Jury-Rigged” in Act II, but the area is heavily guarded and covered by snipers during that mission. It’s easier to stop by when you’re on your own time.
Iraq 03*
After you hack the first router in “Grandma’s Bulldog”, you’ll notice a smartphone sitting on a counter in the lobby of the Rossi-Fremont building, next to a couple of assault rifles. Hack it to get Iraq 03.
Iraq 04*
This smartphone is easy to miss. After you move through the arcade during “Grandma’s Bulldog,” you’ll end up in a storage room. The phone is on the ground in the corner next to an amorous couple.
Iraq 05*
Shortly after you find Iraq 04, you’ll hack another router and end up using a camera that’s mounted on the wall in an elevator shaft. Iraq 05 can be found on a notebook computer in the next room.
Iraq 06
There’s a bar in the Wards called the Unicorn Dragon Pub, where one of the drinking games takes place. You’ll also visit this bar as part of the “Planting a Bug” mission. Whenever you stop by, hack the PDA on the bar to receive this Audio Log.
Iraq 07*
During “By Any Means Necessary” in Act III, you can find this audio log inside a PDA in a wrecked apartment. If you hear Iraq saying “The problem with the world today…” on the PA system, you’re in the right room.
Iraq 08*
Again, during “By Any Means Necessary,” you’ll find this inside another wrecked apartment. The apartment in question is at the base of the elevator shaft that leads up to the drug-packing room. (Another audio cue here is Iraq saying “You gonna get lost in here forever…”)
LUCKY QUINN (8)
As with Damien, half of Lucky’s Audio Logs are found in hideouts and ctOS breaches. The other half are found as follows.
Lucky Quinn 01*
After you speak with Poppy during “A Risky Bid” and have to escape from the auction house, look for this Audio Log at the bottom of the stairs that lead down from the office.
Lucky Quinn 02*
When you enter the auction house at the start of “A Risky Bid,” as you’re walking down the hall take a detour into the film studio on the left side of the hallway. There’s an open laptop in a room to your right, near a bank of monitors, that contains this Audio Log.
Lucky Quinn 07*
While you’re eavesdropping on Lucky’s conversation with Donovan Rushmore during “No Turning Back”, hack the camera behind Rushmore and use it to look into the closed meeting room. You’ll have to revisit the same room shortly thereafter anyway, but it saves time if you collect the Audio Log during Lucky and Rushmore’s conversation.
Lucky Quinn 08*
When you reach Lucky’s office during “No Turning Back,” scan the laptop on the table in the locked meeting room next to his desk.
MALCOLM DEODATO (8)
You never actually meet Malcolm, but his experiences as an employee of Blume provide a window into the inner workings of the company, and into the purpose of the ctOS. If you miss one of his logs, they always show up in numerical order regardless of the order in which they’re discovered.
Malcolm Deodato 01
When you infiltrate the ctOS offices during “Open Your World”, look for an abandoned smartphone on one of the planters in the lobby, right around the corner from your entry point.
Malcolm Deodato 02
This Audio Log is inside a phone in the same room as the access point on the second floor of the ctOS offices during “Open Your World,” although it’s easy to miss if you’re using a guard’s camera feed to get in. It’s much easier to get the Audio Log if you jump to the camera on the wall first, although it may take a second trip around the guard’s patrol route.
Malcolm Deodato 04*
After you acquire the prison roster in “Dressed in Peels”, turn around and hack the phone on the desk behind you.
Malcolm Deodato 05*
Right after you regain your equipment in “Dressed in Peels,” you enter a deserted corridor. As you hack the switch to open the door to the prison exterior, check the desk behind you for a smartphone that contains this Audio Log.
Malcolm Deodato 06
In the abandoned ctOS station in Pawnee during “Hope Is a Sad Thing”, when you manage to get into the northern half of the underground tunnel, head to the end of the corridor before you blow open the chain-link door. Here you’ll find Malcolm’s laptop and phone, both of which can be hacked for information.
Malcolm Deodato 07
You can find this Audio Log inside a security office on the second floor of the Blume campus in Pawnee. You have to go to the office anyway during “The Future Is in Blume”.
Malcolm Deodato 08
Scan the PDA that’s sitting on the front desk of the Merlaut Hotel in the Mad Mile.
Malcolm Deodato 03
On the exterior balcony of the Gorman Heights apartment building in the Loop, look on one of the couches near the fire pit. You climb up here to meet Jordi during “Not the Pizza Guy.”
MAURICE VEGA (8)
You get the first of Maurice’s eight Audio Logs automatically when you hack Maurice’s phone at the start of the game. The rest are obtained by completing the “Burner Phones” investigation. You receive the Audio Logs in numerical order regardless of which specific phone you pick up first.
SERIAL KILLER (6)
You can find these Audio Logs during the course of the “Missing Persons” investigation. Each of the wrapped corpses strewn throughout the city has a PDA somewhere nearby, which you can hack to receive the corresponding Audio Log.
You receive the Serial Killer’s Audio Logs in numeric order, independently of which missing person you happen to find first.
WEAPON CRATES (7)
Seven of the ten weapon crates have a wifi radio nearby that can be hacked to obtain an Audio Log. As with Maurice Vega and the Serial Killer, you receive the undercover Audio Logs in numeric order, independently of which weapon crate you reach first.
G1GGL3Z (8) and DEDSEC (8)
As you complete the “QR Codes” side investigation, one of your rewards is a series of Audio Logs from both the hacker “G1ggl3z” and his “friends” at DedSec. You receive G1gg13z’s Audio Logs from the first eight puzzles you solve and some propaganda broadcasts from DedSec for the rest.
