The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD eGuide Overworld: The Great Hylian Treasure Hunt

Task 6: Obtain the Magic Armor

The Great Hyrule (and Poe) Hunt: Making Donations and Magic Armor

Return to the Malo Mart in Kakariko Village, and speak with Gor Ebizo to donate the last of the 2,000 Rupees (or 200 Rupees if you helped build the bridge). Malo tells you to visit the new shop, once he’s set up.

You’re advised to build the bridge linking Hyrule Field to Castle Town (east) for the following reasons

  • You can easily reach Castle Town now, from Kakariko Village.
  • You receive a reward for helping the Gorons out.
  • The Magic Armor and other discounted items are not available until you donate to the financing, and this works out cheaper in the long run.
  • Your total donation to finance Malo’s town store is 200 Rupees, not 2,000. Cost without repairing the bridge: 2,000 Rupees (and a later opening of the store). Cost with repairing the bridge: 1,200 Rupees (1,000 for the bridge, 200 for the store).

When you leave Kakariko Village and head into your next area (either after warping or riding), expect an appearance by The Postman. He has a letter from Malo, who’s making you a special offer of Magic Armor in the grand opening special (limit one). That was quick work!

Letter #8

You got Letter #8: “Heroes, come together!” by Malo Mart.

Race to the storefront where Chudley’s Emporium once stood. Malo’s mug is plastered all over the place, and the previously snooty attendant welcomes you warmly. Step right up!

Once inside, it’s like being in one giant party! Groovy music is playing, patrons are excited, and the previously uppity Chudley has been transformed into the wacky costumed Malver, who’s more than happy to sell you the same wares as before, but at an incredible discount!

The Magic Armor

The Magic Armor is the finest armor money can buy, but you’re going to need a constant supply of Rupees to keep wearing it! The armor basically works like this:

  • Put it on, and you’re completely invincible!
  • However, every second you wear the armor, it magically sucks Rupees from your wallet.
  • This means you must have a plentiful supply of Rupees! Why?
  • Because when you run out of money, your suit becomes almost immobile. Take it off at once.
  • Put this armor away and use it only when facing the fiercest enemies; the walkthrough will recommend when.
  • You don’t need to worry about maxing out your Wallet when raiding treasure chests any more! Simply put the armor on, reduce the Rupees until the large denomination Rupee you just found can fit, and take the armor off again.

The Magic Armor offers invincibility, but at a price! Head back to Kakariko Village, and you can dance with the Gorons!

Magic Armor

You got the Magic Armor!

Purchase whatever you need, and return here as soon as you can with enough funds to purchase that Magic Armor (you also need the Big Wallet from Princess Agitha before you can amass the 598 Rupees it costs to buy it). If you need to scrape together enough funds, head on over to the many other places in town and continue progress at the tent, Agitha, and Jovani’s. Head to the eastern part of the city, and locate the cat-filled alley outside Jovani’s house.

Transform into the wolf (in this area—don’t scare the townsfolk!), and then burrow in the corner on the other side of the signpost. You appear in the treasure-filled room as you did before and everything is the same. Go over and speak with Jovani.

Jovani before the Poe hunt, and afterward:Gengle is now no longer solid gold, and Jovani is gold, but no longer frozen!

Jovani begins to move! The 20 Poes you’ve collected have allowed him mobility. However, he’s still golden. To help you on your way, he offers you the most potent healing potion in the land! Use this to restore all Hearts and briefly boost attack strength. He will also hand you the Ghost Lantern, which will light up whenever a Poe Soul is nearby. This will make finding Poes a much simpler task if you decide to find them outside of this walkthrough!. Apparently there’s more of this if you investigate a cave on the western edge of Gerudo Desert.

This cave Jovani speaks of is the Cave of Ordeals, and an adventure into this fearsome place should not be undertaken lightly!

Great Fairy’s Tears

You got the Great Fairy’s Tears! This sacred water contains the Great Fairy’s prayers.

Ghost Lantern

A mysterious lantern that reacts to ghosts. It’s normally dark, but will light up day or night if a ghost is nearby.

Now head toward the tent on the same stretch of road as Agitha and Fanadi’s places. Step inside and speak to Purlo. Now that you have the Clawshot, you can effectively dominate the “STAR Tent” minigame!

STAR Tent Minigame

Level 1: Easy

The trick to winning the first level of the “STAR Tent: minigame lies in using a secret weapon: the Clawshot! Steel mesh encases the entire arena, making the whole place into one giant Clawshot medallion. The moment the buzzer sounds, fire and latch onto the northern platform with the red star sitting above it.

Immediately face south and aim at the trail of red stars ahead. Try to keep the red star directly in the center of your targeting reticle to grab the blue star on the way to the south platform.

Now face east and hook onto the platform with the white star above it.

Now immediately turn west and shoot through the trail of white stars ahead to the west platform.

Finally, look toward the northwest and shoot your Clawshot at the yellow star on the lower platform. Congratulations! You’ve finished the first stage of the STAR Tent Minigame.

When you finish the first stage within the time limit, Purlo grudgingly congratulates you. It seems he won’t be taking you for a ride this time! He’s a man of his word, too, and he offers you this excellent prize. Purlo has another level of this game for you to try, but it requires the Double Clawshot! Return here with that when you find it!

Big Quiver

You got the Big Quiver! It can hold up to 60 arrows!

You can double your available arrows and Bomb Arrows with this handy Big Quiver! Be sure to stock up on bombs and arrows at the Castle Town Malo Mart!

1. A Fan Favorite!

Once you complete this level of the “STAR Tent” minigame, head outside, and watch as Kili, Hanna, and Misha shriek and swoon over you! They drop three Hearts, then skip away, disappearing en route to the fountain.
