Task 6: Defeat King Bublin and His Hordes
Kidnapped by King Bulblin!
It’s time to leave Ordon Village again. Return the way you came, northward toward Faron Woods, then across Hyrule Field and into Kakariko Gorge, before leaping the spiked gate and arriving in Kakariko Village.
Before you arrive, Beth and Talo are playing in the thoroughfare when they hear hoofbeats. The massive Lord Bullbo roars into town, carrying the mighty King Bulblin! Talo turns in terror, but Beth is transfixed as the massive creature bears down upon her.
Colin leaves Malo at the sanctuary door, and runs out to save Beth, pushing her out of harm’s way. But he’s directly in line of the stampede! Barnes appears, and King Bulblin stares him down, carrying Colin’s limp body in his giant fist.
You arrive in time to see the end of this terrible raid by King Bulblin and his cohorts; the king lifts Colin above his head and roars, then stomps Lord Bullbo’s feet, and the raiding party gallops northward away from the village.
The raiders are getting away! You can catch them, even after stopping Epona, turning around and talking with Beth, who’s lying on the ground (but OK), Malo, who’s standing in the thoroughfare (and as OK as he normally gets), and Talo (who’s dumbstruck, hiding behind the Cucco shack).
Charge! You must follow the evil raiding party and rescue Colin before darkness devoures him. Gallop northward, and make the long turn, heading past Renado at the Death Mountain trail entrance, then increase your speed and leap over the spiked gate.
Battle in the Flat Field
Once in a giant flat field, east of Castle Hyrule, King Bulblin awaits. Colin is tethered to the king’s banner, and the king beckons you to fight him! You unsheathe your sword, and the king blows a mighty horn. Five Bulblin riders and their archers gallop to his side!
Bulblin Riders A massive melee begins with you and Epona pitted against five Bulblin Riders and their archers and King Bulblin. Your tactics should begin with the Bulblin Riders; they are fast, and the Bullbos they ride carry two passengers: one a rider and the other an archer. To deal with them, use your spurs to catch up to enemies ahead, or speed away from foes behind you. Draw your sword early, and as you reach your target, optionally ZL target (although this isn’t useful as there are too many foes), then hack away. Slice off both rider and archer with one swing! Charging in, using the spin attack, and leaving is the other option. Don’t concern yourself with the Bulblin Riders exclusively; more appear when you defeat the ones currently surrounding you.  You’re jostled and struck multiple times. Bring out the blade, and lay waste to these Bulblins with quick slashes and the spin attack!  |
King Bulblin Riding Lord Bullbo Fracas in the FieldStep 1: This battle rages for minutes. You must deal with the regular Bulblin Riders, then gallop to catch up with King Bulblin. He’s dashing around the expansive field and you must keep up with him, even over low fences and walls!  Step 2: Replenish your health during the battle by riding through the small unlit campfires for Hearts.  Step 3: When you’re out of spurs and waiting for Epona, slow down and defeat Bulblin Riders, but keep a lookout for King Bulblin. When you have enough speed, dash for the king and match his speed. Spur Epona two or three times to reach the same velocity. Step 4: As you arrive, be sure your sword is drawn, execute a couple of slices, then a spin attack on King Bulblin. This shatters some of his armor before he gallops away. Slow down, deal with the Bulblin Riders, and repeat steps 3 and 4.  Keep up the attacks on King Bulblin five or six additional times, until daylight comes and you knock King Bulblin’s horn from his hand!
Battle on the BridgeKing Bulblin has no horn to call his shock troops; instead he gallops to the Bridge of Eldin. As you enter, a Bulblin Archer sets fire to a barricade at each end. King Bulblin and Lord Bullbo rear up, then charge for you, on the bridge!  Step 1: Unsheathe your sword, and trot (but don’t charge) toward King Bulblin. Strike him before he hits you and you plummet off the bridge! Move Epona to one side, running at King Bulblin.  Step 2: As you both near each other, move to one side, dodging him (always toward the middle of the bridge). At the same time, slice with your sword. Time this correctly, and you knock another piece of armor from the king.  Step 3: Gallop to the bridge’s end, then rein in Epona and turn her around. You’re about to go for a second strike! Follow the same plan: keep your speed low (if you charge, there’s less time to strike). Keep to the side. Cut in at the last moment, and slice with your weapon! After a second successful strike, King Bulblin falls off his mount. |
A hit knocks the mighty Bulblin off his steed, and into the gloom of a plummet to a doom. Your mount rears up and you raise your sword in triumph! King Bulblin could never have survived that fall….
You pick up Colin, and bring him to Kakariko Village. Colin is wounded, but he knows what his father meant when he told him to be strong. Beth has been saved, and while Colin recuperates, you turn your attention to that rumbling volcano. It’s time to pay the Gorons a visit!
