Mobile Gaming eGuide - Tips, Tricks, and Strategies for Today's Hottest Mobile Games Monster Legends

Becoming a Legend

Pandalf walks you through the basics of setting up your base and populating it with monsters. You learn about hatching eggs, feeding monsters to boost their levels, and building a farm to grow your own food.

While completing Pandalf’s tasks, your overall level increases. Your level appears in the top right corner of the screen. Tap on it to see your progress and what will be unlocked at the next level.

Player Level

You earn experience points (in the form of big yellow stars) from multiple activities, such as clearing debris from your islands, growing food, fighting in dungeons or on islands, or engaging in PvP battles.

Gaining levels allows you to add more buildings and upgrade existing buildings. You also unlock new activities and pre-existing buildings floating around your base. They’ll need repairs before you can use them, so be prepared to spend some gold and lose a worker for long stretches of time. To learn more about these new buildings and aspects of the game, watch the tutorial videos when they pop up.

Building a Better Base

Your base must grow to meet the needs of your monster collection; however, you must balance expansion with your player level, available space, and the resources needed for growth. To maximize the value of your farms, habitats, and other buildings, you must upgrade them periodically. You spend gold, food, and sometimes gems to upgrade buildings and habitats.

The hatchery and breeding mountain are available from the start. When you’re able, upgrade the hatchery and build the breeding tree. These actions increase the rate at which your monster collection can grow.

Your monster collection is limited by habitats. Each habitat holds two monsters initially but can be upgraded to make room for more. Until you build a temple of the same element, monsters are limited to level 10. Upgrading temples allows monsters to achieve higher levels. Check your habitats regularly to claim the gold generated by the monsters residing on it.

Build farms to grow food, which is then given to your monsters to increase their levels. Upgrading farms opens up a greater variety of food. There are other buildings to add to your base, but habitats, temples, and farms are the start of everything.

Monster Basics

Monsters are the main attractions in Monster Legends. You buy them, breed them, level them up, attach runes and relics to them, and send them out to fight. There are hundreds of monsters, with more being added regularly. The game provides a great deal of information already, but understanding elements in combat is vital to your success.

Elements and Element-Based Attacks

Every monster is attuned to one or two elements. This is what allows them to live in certain habitats, and what makes them resistant or vulnerable to element-based attacks. The exception to this is legendary monsters. They treat all other elements the same.

Monsters are resistant to attacks that are of the same element as they are (“weak” will appear during an attack). For example, Rockillas take half damage from Earth-based attacks. Monsters of two elements are resistant to attacks based on either of their element types.

Monsters are vulnerable to another type of attack if they’re a single-element type. That same Rockilla will take critical damage from Dark-based attacks (“strong” will appear during an attack). Monsters of two elements are vulnerable to two types of attacks, unless it is the same as one of their elements. That means an Earth/Dark monster would take half damage from Dark-based attacks, not 150 percent damage.

When you’re selecting your team for battle, remember the following:

• Fire does critical damage to Nature.

• Nature does critical damage to Magic.

• Magic does critical damage to Metal.

• Metal does critical damage to Light.

• Light does critical damage to Dark.

• Dark does critical damage to Earth.

• Earth does critical damage to Thunder.

• Thunder does critical damage to Water.

• Water does critical damage to Fire.
