There are almost limitless playstyles and weapon combinations to try. But it’s well worth figuring out some overall tactics before you start spraying foes with bullets:
Locked and Loadout
Before you adjust your gameplay style to weapons you prefer or unlock yourself, maximize your chances of success by equipping a lightweight pistol (to use when fleeing an enemy or running), along with a rapid-firing rifle (to employ when you take an offensive posture).
Getting Attached to Your Weapon
You may be thinking that adding all manner of attachments to your weapon could help you in combat, and to a certain extent (and for less-experienced gamers) this is true. However, if you can easily take down foes without extra attachments, opt to remove the heavier ones from your weapons so you can move faster and fire more quickly. For example, it’s better to keep all your attachments light, even if that means sacrificing a bigger magazine. Why? Because you gain a constant advantage by moving slightly faster, compared to being able to fire for longer between reloads; you usually never use up a full magazine between reloads anyway.
A Marked Man
Some attachments you should definitely consider using, such as the Combat Telescopic Sight (CTS) at longer ranges, and the Tactical Holo at mid-range, both of which have a helpful marking laser that allows you to track enemies on your radar after you spot them. This obviously allows you to watch foes, even if they break away from combat with you.
Campaign Promises
Blue Credits are awarded during the single-player Campaign mode. In order to complete the 12 missions with a good degree of competence, it’s worth spending some of these credits on upgrades. Apply faster reloading and a laser-sight attachment to your weapons. Choose the automatic turrets and body armor to help you succeed, and then think about other upgrades afterwards.
Check Yourself and Mop Up. Don’t be above spawn-killing enemies. If you find a foe who’s just appeared, they’re likely to be a little disorientated, so focus and attempt to slay them before they can react in time. Is combat occurring up ahead of you, or in the distance, or in an adjacent chamber? That’s usually great news, as you can step into the chamber and ideally defeat all the enemies in there (who are likely to be wounded and about to finish each other).
