Check for completed quests and opened chests regularly, to avoid the downtime on them. Many chests you earn require a few hours before they’ll unlock, and only one countdown can be active at a time. As soon as a chest is ready to open, grab its contents and start the clock on the next chest. Similarly, there’s a delay between claiming the reward for completing a quest and a new quest becoming available. You want the countdown to begin as soon as possible.
