The option to take cover behind walls and obstacles is a little wonky at best, so we suggest you run-and-gun in most situations. Of course, there are some hairy situations where covering will save your life, but there are just as many that can get you killed as you struggle to get out of cover to attack your assailant. Keep moving; running-and-gunning is going to win out over taking cover most of the time.
