Projectiles

Whether or not you’ve mastered the weapons with triggers, it’s also pertinent to learn how to properly punt the nine different projectiles, as they all have different effects:

Rosarms Industries R67 Fragmentation Grenade

The R67 Frag Grenade is good for longer, ranged attacks, as it has a highly damaging and large blast radius, but is less effective (due to its lethal damage) at closer quarters if you’re attempting to defend. It can be thrown a long distance, and is also “cookable”—keep it in your hand and lob it so it explodes as it lands, but without taking too long and killing yourself.

Charbtek CTK-84 Incapacitating Grenade

Though rarely encountered in Multiplayer, combine this with the Opportunism Stealth Perk so you can inflict more (gun-based) damage to those you’ve stunned when using this Flashbang or Stun Grenade. It has a large area of effect, blinds foes for around four seconds, and is excellent to use as crowd control. If you’re on the receiving end of this attack, turn away or retreat to lessen the effects.

Rosarms “Bee Swarm” R70-CS Incapacitating Grenade (8,000 Gold Credits)

The Stun Grenade inflicts mass shrapnel damage over a radius of five meters, disorienting victims due to the CS gas also emitted from the explosion. This is a great defensive tactic to use against enemies at close range, and lobbing two of them can cause fatal damage if the foe is close enough. Just make sure you’re backing up and out of the blast radius. Otherwise, employ this to lessen an enemy’s counterattack.

Bernier-2 Titanium Steel “Tactical Poignard”

An instant kill if these connect with a foe? Sounds amazing! No automatic aim and a tendency to bounce a lot? Sounds less amazing. If you can get pass the inaccurate nature of this throwing knife, and the fact this is only useful against a single foe (there’s no area of effect), then try this out. Usually reserved for pro-players, this has a longer range than any other projectile you can carry.

Kremlin Rifles KR-G3 White Phosphorus Smoke Bomb

This Tear Gas Smoke Bomb detonates into a five-meter cloud, dispersing after 10 seconds. During the time it’s effective, it incapacitates one or more foes, helps you to block routes, slows or stuns enemies, and can be aimed through if you’ve equipped the Thermal LCD. This is the grenade to use to control multiple foes, stopping them from entering certain areas. Follow up with gunfire, as this grenade doesn’t inflict damage.

Chralz Technik GMBH Anti-Tank ST174

This Sticky Bomb inflicts the most damage of all the grenades, is cookable (as long as you throw it before it explodes in your hand), and is one of the most popular ways to defeat enemies using a projectile. It can damage foes on the other sides of walls, can be thrown to “stick” onto walls so enemies arriving around three seconds later are caught in the explosion, and can even be stuck on foes. It has a large damage radius, and despite the lengthy detonation time-frame, it’s usually the most effective grenade in the game. Pick Grenades Expert or Explosives Expert to increase its potency still further!

Thermate-TH3 Mark 7 Grenade

The Incendiary Grenade creates intense and deadly heat within a one-meter radius once it explodes—more than enough to defeat any foe in the vicinity. It’s used in a similar fashion to the Smoke Bomb, though this kills foes. Throw into hallways and thoroughfares to prevent enemies from progressing. It detonates instantly, lasts around eight seconds, and quickly kills. The only drawback? It’s easy to get caught and kill yourself, so don’t use it in close quarters.

Kremlin Rifles KR-X Ultralight NNEMP Bomb

The EMP Grenade temporarily disables your HUD, turrets, jammers, and radar for 20 seconds, within a radius of 10 meters. If your foes are using a lot of these types of equipment, it’s worth annoying them with this, then following up with gunfire attacks while they’re disorientated.

CTK-160 LRHE Concussion Grenade

Compared to the similar Frag Grenade, this Concussion projectile explodes instantly upon impact, has a good throwing distance, and has a lethal central radius, with an outer radius that stuns foes (though it’s not as potent as the Stun Grenade). Though the lethal area is small, and the grenade is harmful to both friend and foe, it’s excellent to lob at the feet of an enemy, which pretty much guarantees a kill. If the foe staggers out of the area, back up the grenade with small-arms fire to finish the job.
