Check your hydrogen level before starting a red star run for artifacts. You don’t want to exhaust your fuel halfway through and lose ships or spend crystals.
Always target the highest level artifacts first, and always lead with your battleship. Without upgrades, your transports are destroyed with a single hit.
It’s possible to store artifacts on colonies, but they’ll suspend shipments until the artifact is removed.
Keep your research station working on artifacts as much as possible. That’s its only job, and that’s how you get better modules for your fleet.
