Episode 9: Independence Day

The supplies have been gathered and a plan has been hatched. As the group cleans out their hideout, two thugs bust in. Quickly take them down with your handgun. When the opportunity arises, put a couple of bullets in a third guy.

Meet Crew at the Van

Follow Khai and Marcus up the dock, around Ishimura, and up the street to the parked van.

Get to the Elevator

The plan calls for accessing the penthouse through its private lift, which can be reached through the 19th floor. First the public elevator must be unlocked and ridden up to that point. Two men across the street pose little threat. Freeze them with a flash of the badge and perform non-lethal takedowns on them.

Step up to the plaza and tag any lobby guards and the alarm system visible from outside while avoiding vision cones. The upper floors of the adjacent parking garage offer a better view, but peering through the window from ground level does the job.

There are five doors to the front lobby, a side entrance to the second floor, and a way in through the rear loading area. This latter option takes you right to a camera controller and the alarm box.

Run around to the back alley and take care of two guards with a flash of the badge. Enter the building via the loading dock.

Continue through the next door and enter the security room ahead. Perform a takedown on the lone guy inside and use the camera controller to see what is going on in the lobby.

While keeping an eye out for any incoming enemies, return to the hallway and disable the alarm box that hangs on the wall ahead. In order to take care of the upper guard first, climb the stairwell ahead to the second floor and cross over to the far side. Pull the guy away from the ledge with a shell casing and take him down.

Return to the first floor, next to the alarm box, and lure one of the security guards into the hallway and drop him. If two guys respond to the noise, pull the first one further into the corridor or wait for them to forget. Eliminate another bad guy in the same manner. Now two guards remain.

Walk out to the lobby and quietly perform a non-lethal maneuver on the man with his back turned. Before going after the final guy, scan the keypad on the security console and then interact with it to unlock the elevator. Step over to the right metal detector, flash your badge at the last guard, and arrest him.

Give Explosives to Tyson

Join Khai at the elevator and take it to the 20th floor. Walk into the hallway behind the reception desk and take down the patrolling guard. The only other guy on this floor is around the glass wall. Lure him away from the edge before eliminating him.

Descend the back steps to the 19th floor and get rid of the guard as he walks away. Arrest two more guys who patrol the nearby cubicles. This leaves six guys on the far end of the floor. Two guard the door to the corner office while three watch the fireworks out the window.

Duck into one of the cubicles on the right and lure the two guards, one at a time, away from the office and handcuff them. Now it is possible to walk up to the three remaining guys, flash your badge, and arrest them. Enter the corner office to meet up with Tyson.

Find the Private Elevator

Exit the room and follow the staircase straight ahead up to the 21st floor. Proceed through the waiting area and follow the hallway to the main office.

Use a crowbar to enter the private elevator. When the opportunity arises, press the button and swim up the elevator shaft to the penthouse.

Let Tyson In

Move forward to the living room and interact with the touchscreen to open the terrace and let Tyson in.

Find the Vault

Before putting The Brute to work, you must find the vault. This is a good time to take a look around the penthouse and make sure your gadgets and weapons are suitable for an upcoming survival fight. Tactical Gear can be found in the office. Once ready, interact with the bust on the fireplace mantle to proceed.

Survive!

After a short while, bad guys move into the penthouse. Dig in behind a window on the terrace and pick them off as they approach. Continue to scan left and right to make sure nobody gets too close.

Once you’ve taken care of the first group, run into the office and access the Tactical Gear. If you haven’t already, attach infrared, night vision scopes to the Primary and Secondary weapons. The guards cut the power to the penthouse, so these make the fight much easier. When not ADS, look for their flashlights. Once the objective is complete and the vault is open, move inside and interact with the console table in the back.

Get to the Boat

Meet up with Khai on the terrace, where the crew links up with a cable and slides toward the boat. It does not work out as planned and the detective begins to flail around.

After touching down in the street, take cover behind the car and shoot the approaching bad guys. Any time there is a lull, run down the street—ducking behind a vehicle when more show up. Sprint around Ishimura to the boat to escape.
