Zipline |
Playing as the police on Downtown forces you to be a little more aggressive than most other maps when playing Rescue. Get to the atrium as fast as you can and scope out the hostage building adjacent to the Plaza. When you enter the atrium, stay alert because the criminals might have the same idea even thougyou can easily get there first. The atrium is a great holding point for most modes and Rescue is no exception. If you are able to take control of the atrium, you can scope out any criminals trying to advance due to impatience or repositioning and that is your time to thin their forces and strike. The hostages are located on opposite sides of the lobby from eacother, so if you need to make a quick escape go for the closest hostage and book it back to the extraction. If you have a little time, about a minute or so, try taking the elevator to the top floor and zipline down to the extraction. Remember, if you can get to the top floor, so can the criminals. Don’t go up there wityour guard down.
Playing as the criminals on this mode/map combination can be easy if you and your team make good decisions. Playing defense on a map witroofs, wide open areas, and a place that the police can hole up in to give them an advantage is all about not giving away your position by any means. Keep a couple of teammates guarding the hostages either very close by or in a corner of the building, but the rest of your team should be spread out. If you like being outside and trying to catcany police attempting to enter througthe front door, equip your operator class and sit on the far soutend of the Plaza. There is cover there and you won’t be seen by any police in the atrium. Go to the roof if the lower levels are not working for you. The police have a direct line to your roof from theirs via zipline, and if you are able to cut them off it could ruin their entire operation. If you are on the roof, be ready to parachute to the front of the building or to the extraction when the hostages are being picked up. Base jumping from the building gets you to the extraction mucfaster than they could on foot.
Downtown lends itself very well to botthe rustactic and the lockdown tactic. There are plenty of places to hide when attempting the lockdown tactic, including the roof, because even thougyou are spread out it doesn’t take long to get back to the hostages. It is important that your team communicates whictactic you are performing because unless everyone is on the same page, any plan falls apart. The rustactic is very available and works if the entire team knows where they’re going. Being able to base jump from the roof to the atrium and dropping in on the police, or rushing straight for the atrium and hoping your team is able to take out those who decided to move into it allows your team a great advantage. Your team ideally should have the enemy outnumbered as long as there were no casualties. Your team also controls the middle ground whicallows you quick access to any point on the map within seconds. If you see the police enter the hostage building, you can get there and kill them before they are able to pick up a hostage. If you see that one of the hostages has been taken, you can easily get to the extraction point mucfaster than the enemy and set up a defensive position for when they try to escape.
At the point in the round where the police can get to the hostages, the safest one is the hostage nearest your entry point, assuming you entered safely. The hostages are on opposite sides of the lobby from eacother, so if you can get to one of them you have enougcover to pick him up if the other is being guarded.
Apart from the zipline that can take you from building to building or building to extraction, it is useful to carry the decoy, especially when attempting to distract the enemy while your team picks up the hostages. The camera is great on defense because you can set them up in a direction toward the hostages and be able to see the enemy attempt to pick up one before they even begin the process.
