Equipment

Primary Weapon Scout Elite
Secondary Weapon G18C
Gadget One Laser Tripmine
Gadget Two
Grenade M67 Frag
Melee Police Baton/Baseball Bat
Strengths: Long-range specialist; reconnaissance
Weaknesses: Limited close-quarter and anti-vehicle capability

Like the recon class from other Battlefield games, the professional is the master of long-range combat. This class has access to a mix of powerful bolt-action rifles and fast-firing semi-auto rifles. While the bolt-action rifles offer the best damage output, they have a very slow rate of fire and limited magazine capacities. These drawbacks are addressed by the semi-auto rifles, trading damage for greater versatility. Beyond sniping opponents, the professional can assist their team with a host of unique gadgets. Use the laser tripmine to catch unsuspecting opponents off-guard. Or deploy cameras around objectives and other high-traffic areas to relay enemy movements to your teammates. Divert attention away from your team or lure opponents into an ambush by using a decoy, a device which simulates gunfire. Or equip the stealth training hood to sneak around the map without being detected. The professional class can be tricky to play on smaller maps. But with some practice and careful customization, the professional can perform admirably in any situation.

Professional Weapons

Bolt-Action Rifles

The bolt-action sniper rifles offered by this kit require the greatest amount of skill and patience of any weapon type, best reserved for players willing to put in the practice to master them. Unless you score headshots every time, it takes at least two hits to down an opponent with these powerful weapons. To increase stability while peering through a high-powered scope, hold your breath. This makes it much easier to steady your aim before squeezing the trigger.

scout elite
$0

The Scout Elite is a modern bolt-action rifle intended for law enforcement in an urban tactical role. This rifle is fast to work the bolt on, meaning you can chamber the next round quickly.

R700 Ltr
$48,000

The R700 Light Tactical Rifle is a police-issue accurized lightweight sniper rifle for when you really want to reach out and touch someone. This rifle is exceptionally accurate.

AWM
$51,000

The AWM is a bolt-action sniper rifle that has seen service around the world in the hands of law enforcement. This rifle fires a hard-hitting round at long-range with great precision.

.300 Knockout
operator Assignment 2

The .300 KO is an integrally suppressed sniper rifle that fires a special short-distance round that reduces its audible signature. The downside is you can’t take the suppressor off—but why would you want to?

Semi-Auto Rifles

Also known as Designated Marksman Rifles (DMRs), these rifles bridge the gap between assault rifles and sniper rifles, offering impressive stopping power while maintaining respectable rates of fire and reload times. These rifles are best deployed when engaging targets at intermediate to long ranges in situations when a higher rate of fire is more important than precision and damage. Their size makes these rifles somewhat cumbersome when operating in close quarters, so consider switching to a sidearm when entering structures and other confined spaces.

socom 16
$24,000

The SOCOM 16 is a modern variant of the M14, manufactured with lighter materials. This rifle mitigates some recoil, allowing rapid follow-up shots.

SR-25 ecc
$40,200

The SR-25 Enhanced Combat Carbine is based on the AR-10 design, with a monolithic top rail. Lower recoil and semi-automatic operation allows for rapid shooting.

PTR-91
$39,000

The PTR-91 is one of a family of modern civilian semi-automatic rifles based on the G3.

saiga .308
$22,800

The Saiga family of semi-automatic rifles are a sport version of the AK-series rifles, intended for hunting and civilian use. This rifle mitigates some of the recoil, allowing for faster follow-up shots.

Machine Pistols

The professional’s lack of close-quarter capability is addressed by these fully automatic and burst-fire machine pistols. Little more than standard handguns, these compact weapons are capable of spitting out rounds at a rapid pace. While the rates of fire are impressive, the harsh recoil makes it difficult to keep these weapons on-target. So unless you’re engaging opponents at pointblank range, fire in quick bursts to manage muzzle climb. These weapons also have a tendency to burn through ammo fast, so keep them fully loaded at all times.

G18C
$0

The G18C is a full-automatic pistol with a high rate of fire. It is difficult to control due to significant muzzle climb, but it spits out a lot of rounds.

93R
$10,800

The 93R is a burst-fire variant of the 92FS semi-auto pistol. This pistol is highly accurate even in burst fire and is a good finishing weapon.

Tec-9
$19,200

The TEC-9 is an inexpensive blowback-operated automatic handgun. This gun is more stable and controllable than the G18C during sustained fire.

mac-10
professional Assignment 2

The MAC-10 fires a .45 caliber round at a high cyclic rate. The high damage comes with short range and serious recoil to manage.

Professional Gadgets

Laser Tripmine
$0

Explosive mine that detonates when the laser tripline is broken. Can be placed on any available surface in arm’s reach. Can be disarmed by agents that spot it in time.

Field Notes

These nasty little devices perform similar to claymores and are designed primarily as an anti-personnel mine. But in the right situation, they can also damage vehicles. These gadgets can be stuck to vertical or horizontal surfaces, after which they emit a visible green laser beam—enemy lasers appear as red. This beam extends approximately two meters from the gadget. If an opponent moves through this visible beam, the mine explodes. Unless you’re playing on Hardcore mode, teammates do not trigger this device. These gadgets are best placed in tight quarters where opponents are less likely to notice the laser beam, such as around blind corners or in doorways. To limit the visibility of the laser, place these devices low, near the ground, below an opponent’s line of sight. You can place up to two of these devices, but more can be retrieved from an enforcer’s ammo box. If you spot an enemy laser tripmine, shoot it or use a grenade to detonate it.

Camera
$6,000

Camera which detects and reports enemy movement in a wide cone in front of the device. Don’t underestimate the power of intel.

Field Notes

These small, dome-shaped cameras can be stuck to any vertical surface and immediately report enemy movement within its 180-degree field of view. Enemy contacts appear as red triangles shown on each teammate’s minimap. It’s important to note that these cameras only detect movement. If an enemy is standing directly in front of a camera, and remains motionless, they are not shown on your minimap. But standing still is rarely an option in Hardline, so don’t let this minor limitation dissuade you from purchasing this handy gadget. You can place up to two cameras at a time. But once placed, they can be retrieved and redeployed in new locations. Since the intel relayed by these cameras benefits your entire team, consider making the camera an early purchase for your professional. These devices prove invaluable during Crosshair and Rescue matches.

Decoy
$25,800

Decoy noisemaker that projects fake player contacts on enemy radar and generates fake weapon sounds.

Field Notes

The decoy is one of the most unique gadgets available, useful for luring opponents into ambushes. This device is essentially a small loudspeaker, emitting a loop of gunfire sounds. This generates phony contacts on the opposing team’s minimap, potentially drawing them toward the decoy. You can use this to lure enemies into traps or to simply divert their attention away from more critical areas. You can only deploy one decoy at a time, but it can be retrieved and redeployed in new location—they can also be destroyed by enemies.

Stealth Training
$48,000

Agents with stealth training have learned to move quietly. Footstep sounds are reduced, and actions like opening doors are quieter as well.

Field Notes

By donning this hood, your professional gains a ninja-like appearance and demeanor, silently traversing the map while emitting little sound. Aside from the elite aesthetics of the hood, the benefits of this gadget are very subtle. But in modes like Rescue and Crosshair where the player counts are low and sound is very important, this gadget may just give you the edge necessary to flank your opponents or sneak past unnoticed. This is particularly beneficial when approaching enemies from behind for knife kills or non-lethal takedowns.

Professional Tactics

The professional works best at a distance. Use long-range sniper rifles to keep distance between you and your enemy, rendering their weapons nearly useless. However, it is best to stay hidden whenever you’re not going for a kill shot because being spotted quickly draws a lot of attention to your position.

Set up laser tripmines low on doorways, keeping them out of the direct line of sight from enemy foot-mobiles. If the enemy can’t see it right away, there is a good chance they will trigger it, granting you an effortless kill and protecting your six.

Stealth training is great on Rescue and Crosshair because opening doors and sprinting is incredibly loud and revealing when the enemy team is expecting you. Staying hidden is incredibly important but so is moving quickly. Being able to do both with a single gadget gives you a great advantage.

Use the decoy to draw the attention of the enemy. This can be used as both a distraction or a deterrent. Deter the enemy from the VIP at an extraction that is not defended, or draw shooters to a location, luring them directly into your sights.

Listen to your character’s voice as he calls out when your camera spots an enemy. If you are able to sneak up to a key location to set up a camera, you can spot enemies that may be hiding out of your line of sight, behind cover. This gives you another set of eyes, allowing you to see things when no one else can.

Because close-ranged combat is difficult with a sniper rifle, keep some distance between yourself and the enemy’s objective, killing them before they know where you are.
