In Rescue, two hostages are held in the trailer park and it’s up to the law enforcement team to rescue one of them. Speed is the key to getting the jump on the criminals. Instead of methodically moving down the center of the map and moving from house-to-house, consider rushing along the map’s perimeter. Botthe northern and southern edges of the map offer quick paths to the hostages, often allowing you to flank the unsuspecting criminals.
Like the police, the criminal team should utilize the northern and southern flanking paths to encircle their opponents. If you don’t encounter police during your advance, consider camping the extraction point on the east side, placing breaching charges and laser tripmines near the squad car. Sometimes it’s easier to ambusthe police at the extraction point than it is to engage them near the hostages. Keep an eye on the nortand soutflanking paths, since they’re likely to carry the hostage along one of these two routes.
When defending as the criminals, consider backing off from the hostages. Hiding inside the trailers, where the hostages are held, makes you vulnerable to incoming grenades. Instead, deploy gas grenades in eactrailer and back away, watching eacof them from a distance along the western edge of the map. This allows you to detect activity in the trailers, as well as monitor the flanking paths.
Eachostage is held in a trailer on the west side of the map. The trailers are nearly identical wittwo doorways—one on the east side and one on the west side. Given the quick and sneaky route on the nortside of the map, law enforcement has the easiest time reaching hostage #2. But don’t expect to run this route in eacround, the criminal team will eventually catch-on. Fortunately, there’s a similar flanking route on the soutside of the map leading to hostage #1. However, the southern route offers less cover and requires a bit more time to travel.
This is a relatively small map, so if you’re going to deploy gadgets, do so early. Enemy contact can occur within a few seconds, so make sure you’re not fumbling wita gadget when you encounter your first opponent. The criminal team should deploy gas grenades, laser tripmines, and cameras near eachostage. Given the likelihood of booby-traps on eachostage trailer, police should bring along frag grenades to detonate these devices prior to entry. The frags won’t harm the hostages. Police enforcers should also carry a ballistic shield, ideal for making aggressive pushes along the flanking paths.
Use the perimeter to navigate quickly to the hostages. However, you will need to be careful; there is not a lot of cover along the exterior fence. Smoke can be a very effective tool. —Evan Champlin, Senior Multiplayer Level Designer
As law enforcement, run down the nortside of the map between the fence and the mangroves. Unless the criminals are savvy, that route seems like it would be out of bounds. If you follow the patall the way to the end of the fence, you will come out behind the criminals in perfect position to become the aggressor. —William Bordonaro, Quality Analyst
